The Mechanical Project Engineer II will be involved in a variety of engineering projects that focus on New Product Development and continuous improvement within the Elkay Drinking Water product lines.
Responsibilities:
Support project teams in the design, development, and launch of new water delivery products and components, ensuring they meet cost, schedule, and quality requirementsDesign, analyze, and optimize mechanical components for various applications.Collaborate with the electronics engineering team to develop and maintain electromechanical components and wire harnesses.Prepare and maintain detailed documentation throughout the product development process, including design specifications, DFMEAs, test plans (DVPRs), and project reportsOversee the creation and testing of prototypes, analyze test results, and iterate designs based on findingsIdentify, analyze, and resolve engineering problems encountered during the development process for assigned components & systemsSupport product builds throughout development cycleWork with manufacturing & operations team to conduct design for manufacturability & assembly assessmentsWork with suppliers to resolve issues from both current production and development efforts. Complete cost assessments of various design options under considerationCommunicate project status, challenges, and milestones to stakeholders throughout development cycle ensuring alignment and supportSkills & Experiences:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, minimum of 2 years experience in product developmentExperience with engineering analysis tools: tolerance stack analysis and GD&T principles, FEA, and CFDBasic understanding of sheetmetal fabrication & injection molded part designWorking knowledge of electrical systems, including wire harnesses and electromechanical componentsFamiliarity with waterway, flow control and refrigeration system design a plusFamiliarity with V&V Tools (DFMEA & DVPR)Familiarity with Root Cause Analysis Methodologies (8D, A3)Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and creativelyExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersProven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
