Job Summary

Candidate will be responsible for engineering of material handling systems.  Each system is custom designed per client based on the optimal solution.  This requires a team effort of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, controls, software, and project management.  The team will develop and implement a design concept that satisfies the customer’s requirement for safety, functionality, reliability, throughput, and expense. 

Responsibilities Designs/Enhances conveyor systems as well as various automated and semi-automated material handling systems; may work on phases of a larger project or an entire smaller projectReviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements and specifications.Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problemsCreates approval, permit, and installation drawings using AutoCAD Obtains material and product quotes from vendors and issues purchase orders Monitors the project schedule, engineering time, and material costs Works with other disciplines on the project team to make sure the enginee red solution and all equipment fit within system confines and constraintsTravels up to 20% to measure buildings, inventory equipment, commission systems, and interface with customers Participates in continuous improvement projects Resolves engineering issues by working with customers, vendors, and other team members  Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical or Industrial, or equivalent experienceMinimum of 4 years of material handling related experience

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks proficiencyMicrosoft Office skills – Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project.Ability to handle intermediate size project assignments with minimal supervisionKnowledge of the material handling business and ability to assist across teams and divisionsAbility to interface effectively with internal and external customers, vendors, consulting engineers, architects, and installersStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrategic thinking and problem-solving skillsTeam-oriented and collaborativeSelf-motivated and detail-orientedAbility to learn new technology
