Project Engineer Lead

Janicki Industries is an innovative, family-owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades. We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for companies in the aerospace, defense, and space industries. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position is located on-site in Sedro-Woolley, Washington State.

We are looking for a Project Engineer Lead who brings their leadership and experience to our team. This role is responsible for ensuring the team can successfully complete assigned projects and requires a passion for leadership and mentorship. This Lead Engineer takes on a high degree of responsibility within a team and will serve as a technical expert, be the primary point of contact to resolve customer issues, pursue proactive resolutions to issues at every stage of the project, implement risk mitigation strategies, and encourage and support less experienced engineers in their professional development. 

The following essential job functions are performed as a Project Engineer Lead in a fast-paced team environment:                 

 Responsible for all aspects of customer interaction with internal technical teams to ensure progress on all stages of project lifecycle. Communicate, consult with, and participate in design and manufacturing support; continually gives team feedback on improvement areas.  Lead planning and execution efforts in maintaining appropriate tracking of cost, schedule, and process of a project.  Monitors and reports project financial performance. Work directly with the customer technical team to determine detailed requirements and deliverables, communicate or present to customer on project status or health. Direct and participate in engineering activities, including design, and drafting, engineering reviews, and work order preparation. Responsible for assuring the team has materials organized and ready for manufacturing, including monitoring purchasing activities. Interact frequently with shop floor to ensure project health; may have daily presence on shop floor. Assure all team members have a complete understanding of all quality requirements for projects. Manage project scope and is responsible for the execution of the team’s work. Perform risk assessments, frequently encourages less experienced engineers to identify improvement areas Shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors. Must be at work on time and maintain good attendance. This is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3). This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed. Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position and requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is required.  Experience working with composites, in a lean manufacturing environment or working with complex aircraft assemblies is ideal. Commercial/military aerospace experience is preferred. Must have demonstrated leadership capabilities. Experience with SAP ERP software is advantageous. Experience with CATIA and NX or equivalent CAD software is required. Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Salary range for this role is between $68,000 and $145,000, plus discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
