Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Project Engineer is to assist the Project Manager by providing necessary leadership to direct, organize, coordinate, and control the completion of construction projects as assigned. This position is accountable for meeting or exceeding established guidelines for standards of performance, work quality, safety, and job profitability. This role offers the potential for growth and evolution into a Project Manager position over time.
ResponsibilitiesManage all work for assigned construction projects according to the Project Manager's instructions.Supervise assigned Foremen and conduct daily inspections of projects to ensure that resources, equipment, and staff are being used efficiently.Allocate personnel and manage the workload for construction projects in line with staff qualifications and skills as directed by the Project Manager or Supervisor.Ensure that safe working conditions and practices are followed and inform appropriate staff of any hazards at the work site.Hold employees accountable for safety violations and/or non-compliance and implement appropriate disciplinary action as required.Meet with customer representatives regularly with the Project Manager to ensure staff is informed of new customer requirements, change orders, and new policies and procedures.Review and process invoices related to assigned construction projects, including submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and other necessary documentation.Complete and submit construction reports as required by the customer and the company.Ensure that both customer and company quality control procedures are utilized and targets are achieved.Identify, develop, and implement (with appropriate approval) cost-saving initiatives and opportunities for improvement.Update the project schedule and attend meetings with owners and subcontractors as required.Troubleshoot construction issues with appropriate staff and work to resolve problems as required.Regularly communicate work progress, schedule variance, crew, and safety performance to the Project Manager and CEO.Essential SkillsProject managementConstructionConstruction managementChange order managementRequest for Information (RFI) processingProject coordinationCommercial constructionEstimationConstruction documentationMultifamily constructionSubmittalsProcore software proficiencyAdditional Skills & QualificationsAt least 6 months of experience in the Project Engineer role ORA degree in Construction ManagementWork Environment
The work environment involves managing construction sites and projects, ensuring that safety standards are met, and effectively communicating with various stakeholders. The role requires attending meetings with owners and subcontractors and may involve troubleshooting issues on-site. The use of Procore software and adherence to both customer and company quality control procedures are integral to this position
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.00 - $43.00
