The Project
UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 140km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project.
We are looking for a Project Engineer Structural/Electrical to join our team onsite.
Please note this role will initially be based in Sydney, with transition into a site delivery role requiring DIDO/FIFO or relocation where additional allowances will apply. Local applicants are highly considered.
HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia’s eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.
The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning 140kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.
What will a day in this role look like:
The Project Engineer Structural/Electrical is responsible for providing engineering expertise in the design, fabrication, installation and assembly of the project. The primary challenge of this position is to ensure the project or other assignment is completed in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet contractual arrangements made with the client.
Your other duties/responsibilities will include:
· Review and plan the project with the Construction Manager to ensure technical aspects of job are clear and to become familiar with contractual arrangements made with client.
· Liaise with the Client on all technical aspects of the project.
· Provide engineering advice for sub suppliers.
· Attend meeting with client on all disciplines of the work .
· Liaise with design and detailing houses as required.
· Prepare with the Quality Engineer all Inspection and Test Plans and associated Project Specific Procedures.
· Ensure that the quality requirements of the client are adhered to and that company procedures are followed.
· Ensure that the survey of installations throughout the project are conducted in a professional manner with all results being reviewed and accepted by the client.
· Provide written reports on engineering activities as required by the Construction Manager.

About You
· Tertiary Engineering Qualification desirable.
· Minimum 10 years’ experience in project related disciplines.
· Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Substation/Transmission environment.
· AS 9001 Quality Systems knowledge.
· Strong communication skills (oral written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast paced environment with multiple and competing demands
· Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, Excel, Access, email
