Project Engineering Manager
Job Description SummaryFor Grid Solutions, Offshore HVDC represents a key differentiating technology and a central focus for the business, particularly in Europe where Transmission System Operators have very ambitious renewable energy targets. In that context, Grid Solutions participates in projects deploying new HVDC converter stations to bring Offshore Wind energy into Belgium/Germany onshore grid.
Under the requirement for its ongoing HVDC Offshore Wind Integration Project, Grid Solutions is looking for the role of Project Engineering Manager who will oversee the technical coordination and project technical delivery based on SQDC principles for the assigned scope, that will include Project Engineering Integration of one converter station, cordinating for overall project and integrating various partners and package owners (GE HVDC Solution Provider, Internal Partner, consortioum partner, subcontractor and vendors etc.).
He/she will be the contact point to the Customer on technical matters and responsible to lead the elaboration of the best possible solutions with project members regarding technical aspects.
He/she will coordinate and manage the global time schedule of engineering activities, follow-up engineering budgets, define the project design quality plan, ensure implementation of Engineering Management Handbook ‘EMH’ guidelines, supervise overall technical coordination between different work packages of Grid Complex large project.
He/she will guarantee that global optimization is implemented when selecting technical solutions (cost effective solution, safe, ease of installation and operation of the systems) in line with Customer expectation and relevant documentation delivered as per project general time schedule. He will support commercial teams to define design strategy.

Job Description

The Project Engineering Manager oversees engineering activities of the project, (or on a particular work package of the project in case of Large & Complex project) considering the quality/Cost/ time delivery criteria.

He plans overall design activities, manages project design budget, implements design change process, supervises and coordinates all engineering activities required to execute the project, whether done in house or by suppliers/subcontractors, and ensures technical coordination of the Grid Solutions project. He warrants that optimized technical solutions (cost effective solution, ease of installation and operation of the systems) in line with Customer expectation are implemented by project engineering team and Partners, and that documentation are delivered as per project general time schedule.

Project Engineering Manager is accountable for the proper performance of design in matter of time spent, deadlines, and quality. His field of intervention is linked to project strategy defined by Project Manager.

Scope of work & time schedule

Responsible for issuing consolidation of provisional drawing list of the project or of his/her work package, integrating submission dates  Manage global time schedule of concerned engineering activities, check coherency of links between engineering activities and other project functions activities (procurement, construction, commissioning) and organize follow up of critical activities of the project or of his/her discipline.

Time delivery mastering

Plan and manage delivery time of technical interfaces with his/her work package , put in place   exchange interface sheets with partners, customer and third-party contractorsEnsure on-time delivery of design to stakeholders with suitable quality including Partner documentsanticipate and mitigate delivery issues of concerned activitiesManage time schedule for his/her work package engineering activities in close collaboration with the plannerHe/she is responsible of relevant co-engineering sessions with other disciplines, main partners or key suppliers if & when appropriate and of work package design reviewsFor large & complex project support Sr.PEM / PED and Project I&I manager in the engineering change management
