What you need to succeed:Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline. Preferred candidate will have 5+ years related experience with emphasis on engineering of capital projects.Interpersonal skills such as building close working relationships and minimizing disagreements are important elements.Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.Adaptability to rapidly changing working environments and operational situations.Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, electronic mail and presentation graphics, etc.Aligned with our company values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, and Excellence. The opportunity:
This position manages and completes numerous projects that span multiple engineering disciplines. This position manages two senior-level project engineers and supports the implementation of capital projects within the mill as well as supporting the mill reliability and improvement efforts. The position requires strong project management and technical skills to coordinate different disciplines within the Engineering department, Operations, Maintenance, consulting engineers, and vendors. Primarily, the prospective candidate should have the ability to manage several projects that span multiple engineering disciplines.
How you will impact Smurfit WestRock:
Provide engineering expertise to Operations and Maintenance departments to help resolve various operating problems.Manage all phases of capital and expense repair projects from inception through equipment installation and start-up. Responsibilities include safety, scope and cost management, field execution management, and evaluating performance after projects are in-service.Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, management, and other project stake holders on an ongoing basis.Lead all phases of the project process to include project scopes, cost estimates and schedules, "Authorization for Expenditure" request forms, preparation of drawings for assigned projects by working with consultants, vendors, and mill personnel, etc.Coordinate the different disciplines within the Engineering department on assigned projects.Manage Scope of Work and RFQ development and work closely with Smurfit WestRock Procurement to evaluate and award equipment and service contracts.Initiate purchase requisitions for equipment, labor, and materials for assigned capital and repair projects.Manage the direction of consultants, contractors, and maintenance work associated with assigned capital and repair projects.Responsible for conducting business with integrity and respect, being accountable, and actively pursuing excellence to help achieve Smurfit WestRock’s goals.Ensure project documentation is distributed to appropriate departments: drawings, operating manuals, maintenance instructions, bill of materials, etc.Maintain engineering drawing and equipment files.What you need to succeed:Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline.
