Job Overview

The Project Engineering Sr. Manager is responsible for performing critical project management and engineering technical services for multiple major production facilities and associated branch locations within the Company. This position assists in evaluating production or other requirements, determining ROI, and making overall recommendations on project feasibility to upper management. The Project Engineering Sr. Manager is responsible for planning, developing, and executing complex projects from conceptual phase to commissioning; providing technical expertise and advice for all elements within the value chain, and serving as an immediate source of technical information relating to equipment owned or considered for lease, purchased by the company, while providing guidance on the technical aspects of processes employed, or considered for employment, by the company. This position mentors younger Project Managers sharing their knowledge and expertise and manages the more complex capital projects.

Duties & Responsibilities Develops and executes individual plant specific projects in support of the strategy based upon new product introduction and maintenance of existing products Evaluates and prioritizes diverse projects for execution by conducting a thorough analysis of projects, developing and implementing measurement criteria for quantitative evaluation, and comparison of competing courses of action Determines project ROI and provides recommendations on project feasibility and payback by ascertaining and publishing estimates of costs, time requirements, and risks for all projects under consideration  Drafts Capital Expenditures (CAPX) Requests, and prepares associated justification documents Drafts, reviews, analyzes, and recommends project Charters and Plans for approval while integrating scope, time, cost, quality, HR, communications, risk, and procurement management into a comprehensive project plan Executes approved Projects following the published schedule and budget, ensuring project plans and in-progress updates are properly published and communicated and researching, evaluating, and determining equipment, system requirements through a clear understanding of company objectives and long-term manufacturing strategy Assesses and analyzes commercial equipment capabilities and determines the feasibility of incorporating equipment into current and future operations Serves as a technical consultant and coordinator for operations conducted with external organizations and industry partnerships Critiques, analyzes, and interprets technical documents, drawings, manuals, and other reference material Develops and implements process improvement opportunities that have a positive company-wide impact Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities High degree of professionalism Intermediate knowledge of and intermediate skill level in project management Ability to influence decision-making of peers 5+ years of experience with supply chain project management in a large consumer goods organization and, or undergraduate degree in Engineering Ability to interact and communicate with all levels in the organization Presentation skills Negotiation skills Facilitating skills Advanced PC skills Promotes a good working relationship with supervisors, co-workers, and staff Proactive in nature, actively participates, and is self-motivated Encourages and motivates others Continually demonstrates a level of integrity and professional demeanor in keeping with the company’s mission and values Excellent planning and organizational skills Excellent analytical problem-solving skills Clearly communicates complex concepts with all levels of the organization Stamina, perseverance, and patience This is a highly stressful position due to the need to implement changes and meet timelines utilizing resources that in most cases are accountable to other areas of the business All this needs to be accomplished in an environment that is filled with unknown variables Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (4 years) Engineering or Technical degree Must be able to climb stairs and transverse platforms and catwalks as necessary to observe Supply Chain processes in manufacturing and warehouse environments Must be able to safely perform duties in an industrial environment Experience in automated warehouse project management required. Must be able to travel up to 75%
