Project Instrument/Controls/Electrical Lead Engineer

Airswift is looking for a I/C/E Lead Engineer to work for a major LNG Project in Houston, TX, for an initial 2-year assignment likely to be extended.

Project will design, build, and commission a new 1.1 mile lateral pipeline, aerial pipe bridge, metering station, and interconnect facilities to enable the delivery of third party gas to a new Gulf Coast LNG facility now in construction.  The project is currently moving into the FEED/EPC phase with startup scheduled for 3Q27.  Successful candidate will join the Owner’s Project Management Team and function as the Owner’s Instrument / Controls / Electrical Engineering representative during design, fabrication, construction and commissioning.  Work location will be at a Houston based EPC, with frequent trips to the site in Sabine Pass, TX. and to the Owner’s offices in Houston and Beaumont, Tx.

Job Summary:

Act as Owner’s Engineer in the management of engineering, design and all Instrument / Controls / Electrical related technical aspects for a new natural gas pipeline. Provide technical leadership and to all operational, regulatory and project driven activities including gas pipeline design and construction.

Job Responsibilities:

Provide Instrumentation / Controls / Electrical Engineering Leadership as Owner’s Engineer for new natural gas pipeline project.  Support the development and execution of Instrumentation / Controls / Electrical activities including one-line diagrams, inter-connect agreements, control architecture, gas metering skid design, DCS interface, cable routing, control logic, material procurement, etc.  The successful candidate is not expected to be a Specialist in all aspects of I/C/E field, but rather have sufficient technical depth, breadth of experience, motivation, and communication skills to work with Contractors and Owner’s Operations Engineers to resolve issues and maintain project progress.

•          Participate in development and review of all Instrumentation / Control / Electrical design deliverables, preparing and evaluating bid packages, and interacting with engineering, operation and fabrication disciplines

•          Provides technical support to all aspects of the project and acts as the primary point of contact with the engineering contractors for Instrumentation / Controls / Electrical related activities

•          Perform complex technical and administrative tasks relative to the Design and coordination of Instrumentation / Controls / Electrical packages.

•          Provide technical input and review of the design, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning and startup of facilities.

•          Address technical issues arising in all phases of the project development related to Instrumentation / Controls / Electrical packages of the facilities.

•          Responsible for project development: engineering studies, technical bid reviews, preliminary engineering, detail designs, materials procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, handover, commissioning and startup.

•          Review/provide input to the design of Instrumentation / Controls / Electrical packages that fully complies with Operator standards and specifications.

•          Manage the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Contractors through project execution to ensure Instrumentation / Controls / Electrical activities are completed on-time and within budget

•          Provide design input in identification, sizing, selection, procurement of Instrumentation / Controls / Electrical material Project scope and economic development

•          Basic project economic evaluation, including cost estimating and generation of AFEs

•          Development of project schedules

•          Project / construction management

•          Routine project report generation

Qualifications & Experience:

•          Minimum 4-year accredited degree in Electrical (or related) Engineering.

•          10 years of oil and gas industry experience including US Gulf Coast projects

•          Registration as a Professional Engineer in TX is strongly preferred but not mandatory

•          Expert knowledge of common engineering practices and Industrial codes including API, NEC, IEEE, UL, ANSI/NEMA, and others

•          Working knowledge of Natural Gas Pipeline Engineering and Construction codes and standards

•          Communicate effectively and take on the required project challenges, managing all aspects of the I/C/E discipline

•          Self-motivated worker requiring minimal supervision

•          Must be willing to travel up to 25% of time to project locations as required
