Summary:
The position of Project Maintenance Technician is a hands-on position, that provides technical expertise and oversees and participates in the maintenance, repair, and improvement of facility equipment to reduce downtime while increasing operational efficiency in a validated cGMP environment. This equipment includes machinery, buildings, computer systems, control systems, safety, and security systems. Additionally, this position includes responsibility for maintaining shop tools, inventory, and keeping the department’s CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) updated all while adhering to Lean and 5S principles. The position must be proficient in the requirements of the Technician Maintenance and Project Technician positions and may be required to provide training to the technicians in these roles. This position will also be required to support after hours emergency response activities on an as needed basis. You will use your skill set to successfully complete projects that include troubleshooting and resolving technical issues and developing new solutions that improve performance and functionality.
Performs technical troubleshooting on a variety of modalities, technologies, and locations. Performs regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on high volume, validated processing equipment. Reviews preventative maintenance tasks for effectiveness and frequency and recommends any continuous improvement changes or Lean practices for implementation to management. Diagnoses potential or actual equipment issues through observation, problem identification, and analysis, utilizing available information (e.g., cycle printouts, blueprints, schematics); after-which ensuring appropriate and efficient corrective action. Completes operations and project work through construction and/or installation of systems including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems while complying with all federal and state safety regulations and local safety policies and procedures, including ensuring employee safety by adhering to all Lock Out/Tag Out procedures, and following SDS safety procedures when using chemicals. Ensures appropriate work instructions are developed and implemented. This will ensure less experienced technicians can perform tasks as they become routine in nature. Contributes to operational efficiency by responding in person or by phone support to emergency maintenance calls on a 24/7 basis as assigned. Assists in the creation and maintaining of a spare parts program. Strives for continuous improvement by analyzing new or alternative ways to improve operations; incorporates staff recommendations into analysis; responds to audit activities in a constructive manner, and uses findings to improve operations where possible. Maintains mechanical and technical skills, knowledge, and abilities by attending workshops, reviewing trade publications, and participating in training operations personnel to conduct minor, basic repairs to equipment, machinery, etc. Contributes in a team effort by performing in accordance to all STERIS policies, cGMP, Lean principles and other directives; supports the directives and decisions of higher level management and performs other duties as assigned. The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed
Required:
HS Diploma or G.E.D. Four (4) years of related experience. Requires ability to effectively read, write and verbally communicate in English. Essential to be clean shaven for proper fitting safety equipment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Requires ability to read, interpret, and practically apply electrical ladder diagrams and mechanical blueprints. Requires working knowledge of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) or other types of process control equipment. Requires computer skills and word processing, spreadsheet and software capabilities re: maintenance work order, inventory and downtime software. Requires normal hearing range sufficient to hear alarms, bells, horns, etc.

Pay range for this opportunity is $30.17 - $42.15.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
