The Project Manager is a one-year, renewable, term role that provides project and financial management support for the Privacy and Cryptography Lab in the Computer Science Department within the College of Arts & Sciences at Georgetown University. The Privacy and Cryptography Lab Project Manager duties include, but are not limited to:

Provide pre-grant support and post-award support through collaboration with colleagues in the Joint Office of Research Administration.

Facilitate hiring processes and budget management, organizing conferences and meetings, including travel, space, contracts, and catering.

Manage reimbursement processing, supporting visitors and managing calendars.

Monitor project progress and deadlines, supporting faculty in coordinating and preparing required reports.

Serve as the liaison between the project members (faculty, postdocs, graduate students and staff) and funders, supporting the scholarly and collegial relationships within the groups.

Provide require paid travel to support off-site workshops when needed, providing general support to the department administration.

Work Interactions

The position reports to the Department Chair and the head of the Privacy and Cryptography Lab. The position interacts frequently with faculty, students and guests of the department, as well as liaises with vendors and colleagues throughout the university (e.g., Dean’s Office, Provost’s Office units including Faculty Affairs and the Joint Office of Research Administration, Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Human Resources, etc.). The position also interacts with administrators and staff at other universities and outside vendors.

Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree

Demonstrated skill in project management and operations, with a preference for experience in higher education institutions

Minimum of 6-8 years progressive work experience in financial and administrative operations, preferably in an institution of higher education

Understanding and knowledge of current software and financial management tools

Ability to learn quickly, be resourceful and work well on a team

Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Word and Excel

Ability to learn to use different content management systems such as Google web forms, and web content management systems

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Skilled and successful at prioritizing work and multi-tasking to meet deadlines

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$66,783.00 - $126,720.23

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
