Project Manager, Research Support

The University of Miami/UHealth department of Neurology has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Project Manager, Research Support to work at the UHealth Medical Campus.

Core Summary

The Project Manager, Research Support (A) coordinates and leads efforts in a variety of research activities that are complex and wide in scope. Moreover, the Project Manager, Research Support (A) operates with the goal of ensuring that the collection of data and administration of studies are performed efficiently and in compliance with applicable guidelines.

Core Responsibilities

Aids in the evaluation of problems with workflow, organization, and planning and develops appropriate analytical approaches.

Oversight of research portfolio, ensuring that scope, budget and quality are meeting expectations Maintains multiple protocol books and chronicles manuscript preparation.

Assists with submission of manuscripts and journal articles for peer-reviewed medical journals. Performs analyses of computerized datasets using standard packages to import, update, and manipulate datasets.

Assists with studies’ results at professional scientific meetings and conferences.

Ensures that research program objectives are communicated, met, and results are documented.

Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Department Specific Functions

The Project Manager, Research Support will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Stroke division’s research, programmatic, and operational activities related to the Florida Stroke Registry and the Florida Coverdell Program. This position requires expertise in multi-center and multi-disciplinary project management with a commitment to continual improvement in the process. The Project Manager will perform their duties for a large portfolio of federal, state, and industry-funded studies.

Oversight of research portfolio, pre-award submissions and post award management, ensuring that scope, budget, effort, and quality are meeting expectations

Contributing to the development of applications for various funding mechanisms.

Assist in the development of complex grant budgets, implement subawards, assist in the development and implementation of material and data use agreements, maintain consultant and service contracts

Attend regular status meetings with principal investigators, to stay informed of relevant study developments and assist in overcoming obstacles as they arise

Maintain working knowledge of university financial and operational systems, as well as grant e-submission systems

Develop and maintain personal and team tools to facilitate timely completion of milestones

Assist in performing clinical study budget feasibility, sponsor negotiations, liaising with service centers, internal and external invoice reconciliation

Track federal grant expenditures and industry sponsored clinical trials revenues and expenses

Act as liaison between the Florida Stroke Registry and the Florida Department of Health Program Manager and other departments/centers/institutes as necessary for grant and contract administration

Work closely with PI(s) and research support team in performing activities associated with pre-award submissions, grant setup and close-out (i.e., overseeing the payment of subrecipient invoices, carryover and no-cost extension requests, final financial reports, etc.)

Maintain databases of deliverables and reporting requirements for all active research projects, proposal-related documents/information (biosketches, major equipment, facilities, etc.)

Meet regularly with principal investigator(s), and protocol team leaders to review grants, data accuracy and overall project progress

Core Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. Master’s degree is preferred (in public health, neuroscience, healthcare administration, or related field preferred).

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience. Preferably grant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

Demonstrates excellent critical analysis and problem-solving skills.

Strong English verbal and written communication skills required.

Ability to multi-task and work independently as well as on a team.

Willing to work in a highly collaborative environment, on-site and remotely.

Strong quantitative skills and ability to prepare and interpret financial reports.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
