Overview The Project Manager, Vegetation Management is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and overseeing all aspects of vegetation management projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and according to scope, with effective risk and quality management. This role requires managing multiple large-scale, high-value, and complex projects simultaneously, balancing competing resources, timelines, and objectives. The Project Manager leads projects through all phases, collaborating with tree-clearing contractors, environmental and permitting teams, customer outreach, grid operations, and distribution line managers. TRC is hiring multiple Project Managers to be based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with responsibilities supporting projects across various locations on the island. Responsibilities Manage vegetation clearing projects through their lifecycle, including prioritization, tree prescriptions, permitting, customer outreach, clearing, quality control, contractor payments, and documentation. Provide progress reports and ensure project goals and metrics are on track. Monitor project progress for scope, schedule, and cost changes; escalate or issue change orders as needed to maintain timelines and budgets. Identify and manage risks, ensuring mitigation strategies are in place. Lead the project team by coordinating meetings, access route / site planning, landowner and permit issues, and providing regular updates. Represent the client at third-party sessions and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including agencies, contractors, and staff. Hold team members accountable for work performance and outcomes. Coach and develop team members. Support incident investigations as required. Excellent in identifying and managing risk on projects. Manage changes in project scope, costs, and durations effectively. Perform additional duties to ensure seamless project execution. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., project/construction management, biology, natural resources, forestry, business). 5+ years of Project Manager experience, including work in an electrical utility environment with knowledge of vegetation management processes. ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) Certified Arborist Designation. PMP or PgMP training and experience are assets. Experience with regulated utilities and interfacing with regulatory commissions and Independent System Operators. Proficient in project controls, including scheduling, task development, WBS, cost estimation, risk management, and reporting. Strong communication skills. Capable of delivering presentations and facilitating meetings. Knowledge of OH&S safety regulations. Proficiency in GPS, GIS, project management tools, tree identification and map-reading skills, and MS Office applications. Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, monitor, and report deliverables independently. Valid driver’s license required. Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
