The Acoustic Centre of Excellence is a strategic capability within the Underwater Systems (UWS) Business Line and a critical element of the growth strategy for the Australian business. It is also an integral part of Thales’ global supply chain for advanced acoustic sensors and systems, providing products to both Thales France and Thales UK.
The Project Manager role is a key position reporting to the Director, Rydalmere Industrial Competency Centre with a primary focusing on the grow and deliver activities in the Acoustics Centre of Excellence (ACoE).

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Project Manager, you are accountable for:
Developing and managing close customer relationships with a number of project and senior business contacts within Thales France for current contracts and future business opportunities.Leading and directing a portfolio of Bids and Projects in accordance with Thales guidelines ensuring the portfolio outcomes align with the strategic goals of the organisation.Take the leadership role in developing winning strategies with specific win themes and ensuring they translate into a compelling offers.Planning, organising and leading the staff assigned to the projects in order to achieve business outcomes within the delegated authorities and responsibilities.Building and maintaining an open, collaborative and trusting relationship within the business, with customers and with suppliers and partners.Ensuring the portfolio objectives in relation to performance, growth and reputation are exceeded,Working closely with the Sales & Marketing team to pursue and secure future opportunities within the portfolio,Directing strategic workforce planning actions across the portfolio in order to optimise resource allocation for existing and future demands.Strategic management of stakeholders and associated communications both external and internal in order to enhance business reputation.Managing and improving Bid and Project integrated schedule, budget, baselines, risks and opportunities.Coordinating and negotiating input from suppliers and partners and oversee subcontracts. As a member of the RICC, actively participate in improving the integration of the Bid and Project processes between T360, Primavera, and RICC S&OP.
KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
To be successful in the role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:
Degree qualified in business, engineering, project management or other suitable discipline. IPMA Certification or ability to secure certification (IPMA Level B).Proven and effective leadership skills with a high level of interpersonal and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.At least three years’ Bid and Project Management experience with multi-partners / major co-contractors.Experience in delivery of developmental / acquisition mission systems (software / hardware) based projects valued in excess of $5M AUD (over 3-years).Previous experience involved in projects comprising design, development and delivery of complex mission systems. Previous experience involved in the management of Supply Chain and Production operations.Ability to lead in an international environment in diverse cultures, multicultural and unstable arena concerning one or several stakeholders.Experience working with complex Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).The confidence and maturity of judgement to represent the company at high levels with customer organisations both nationally and internationally.Demonstrated ability to develop high performing teams.Exceptional written communication skills including authoring content and editing.Strong internal stakeholder management in a matrix organisation.Exceptional customer focus and external relationship management. Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity to make effective commercial and financial decisions. Experience with Defence ASDEFCON procurement.
