Project Manager

We are seeking a Project Manager to add to our School Assessment Sales and Contract Management Team who has familiarity with the Publishing, Assessment or Education industry.

As Project Manager you will support School Assessment in the successful delivery and fulfillment of assigned program(s). You will be responsible for multiple projects or for one larger project within a program, which often requires multiple resources and functional integration. Familiarity with project or program objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member to effectively coordinate the activities of the Program Delivery Team will be paramount. You should be familiar with project or program objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member to effectively coordinate the activities of the Program Delivery Team. You will spend considerable time communicating with the customer and other stakeholders (vendors, cross-functional teams, subcontractors) involved in the delivery of assigned projects or programs to ensure customer satisfaction. As a successful Project Manager, you will anticipate opportunities and issues proactively as well as manage scope using project management applications and tools. Finally, you should enjoy working with a diverse team of dedicated and passionate professionals. 

Location: US- Remote, however candidates must be willing and able to travel on occasion.

Responsibilities:

Customer Relationship Management:

Establish and maintain positive and productive relationships with internal resources and external customers. Provide outstanding customer service. Be responsive and timely in responding to questions, concerns, and requests. Serve as the primary point of contact to the customer and cross-functional teams for day-to-day execution. Interpret and meet customer expectations and requirements to ensure outstanding customer satisfaction.

  Project Management:

Responsible for overall project management through the life cycle (initiate, plan, execute, control, close). Utility to manage work across programs and in different areas of the value stream. Manage project schedules and communicate schedule deadlines to internal and external groups. Manage customer requirements and documentation required to effectively manage program deliverables as assigned. Networks with all project stakeholders and resources (including customers, internal shared services groups, subcontractors, and vendors) to meet project goals. Ensures adherence to the quality management plan for all project deliverables. Identify changes to project scope or costs and work with the Program Manager to implement scope modification. Identify and track project risks and work with project stakeholders on risk mitigation plans. Identify and implement opportunities for process and quality improvements that promote cost reduction. Execute the tasks as defined in the project plan and schedule in order to meet customer deliverables. Prepare and present internal and external reports on program status, risks, and other program-related issues. Lead Customer and Internal Meetings, including status meetings, planning meetings, and lessons learned meetings. Capture project action items, assign owners and manage to closure. Mentor other Project Managers and Project Coordinators. Participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives with delivery teams. Assist/support programs beyond primary assignment.

  Business Development:

Support the Program Manager with project and program level new business initiatives including developing schedules for RFPs.

 Financial Management:

Support Program Manager with program invoicing and providing necessary documentation for invoicing. Identify process improvement initiatives to reduce cost while maintaining quality. Identify and implement process improvement initiatives in order to reduce cost while maintaining quality. Track and monitor cost savings. Exhibit basic financial acumen. Support Program Manager with financial reviews and documentation necessary to ensure that contract is maintained within budget and margin expectations. Create and manage SOWs and contracts in coordination with Program Manager.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree desired or commensurate experience. 3-5 years of experience in a Project Management role in the Publishing/Assessment Industry. PMP certification preferred or demonstrate an understanding and application of Project Management Institute (PMI) principles. Ability to make decisions based upon limited information. High-level knowledge and exposure to end-to-end management. Demonstrate ability to manage multiple, conflicting priorities, and work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Significant experience with customer service High sense of urgency and attention to detail is required. Effective verbal/written communication skills, strong listening, negotiation, and facilitation skills, and the ability to develop and deliver presentations. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, MS Project, Visio, and PowerPoint.

 

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, New York State, New York City, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

The minimum full-time salary range is between $65,000 - $80,000.
