***This is a hybrid role based out our offices in either The Woodlands or Beaumont, TX. The selected candidate for this role will be placed as a Project Manager, Project Manager, Sr, or Project Manager, Sr Lead based on education, experience, and demonstrated success at the Project Manger level***
Job Summary/Purpose
This position of Project Manager, in our Capital Projects Group, supports and manages projects that are typically between $50M to $75M with or without Customer Focus. May manage a portfolio of projects between $50M to $75M with or without Customer Focus. Works with Supervisor/Contractors/Project Team to manage the development and delivery of projects to which he/she is assigned and focuses on the achievement of project cost and schedule objectives while achieving excellence in the areas of project safety, quality, and risk management. Works directly with Project Controls Specialist to ensure process alignment and proper project controls are implemented. Works with Finance group to ensure costs are managed, change control is established and controlled, and that contingency is properly controlled. Is Accountable for monitoring and coordinating site-based construction activities including those performed by contractors, vendors, and employees. Provides direct management and support to project team members throughout the project lifecycle. Works closely with Business Unit contractor representatives to achieve project objectives. All while ensuring compliance with approved policies and procedures.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Defines the project organization structure required for the project and identifies the technical skills required to achieve project goals; works with the appropriate Entergy management to assign appropriately skilled individuals to the project team. Coordinates with all functional departments as needed to achieve the requirements of the applicable corporate standards and guidelines. Coordinates and oversees activities of the project team and navigates the project through the Entergy Stage Gate process to meet the requirements of Entergy's SGP and associated deliverables (estimates, schedules, gates, etc.). Develops and maintains the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and executes the project in adherence with this plan. Ensures project controls are implemented for effectively managing project scope, schedule, quality, cost, cash flow, risk, contracts, and communications in accordance with the applicable corporate standards. Fulfills role as the 'Contract Manager' or the 'Owner's Representative' as defined in the project contract. Administrates the contract and issues formal correspondence to Contractors in accordance with corporate standards and guidelines. Promotes safe behavior and adherence to the safety rules on the project; ensures contract scope of work includes safety deliverables/requirements as needed. Monitors contractor performance in the area of project safety, schedule, cost, quality of work and compliance with contractual requirements. Identifies, communicates, and takes prompt action on project issues that could impact project performance. Provides clear, timely and accurate project status reports and presentations for management. Delivers projects with cost and schedule certainty; manages and controls costs; identifies and mitigates risks. Turns over completed project equipment/systems to the owner with all necessary documentation, training, and instructions. Work is performed in an office setting (90%) and field conditions (10%).
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field OR 4 years of equivalent/related work experience (in addition to Minimum Experience requirement) in lieu of degree. Preferred: Advanced Degree Preferred - MBA, Masters in Engineering, Construction, Project Management.
Minimum experience required of the position.
Project Manager: 2+ years of experience in Project Management, Construction Management, Electric Utility Industry, or related field Project Manager Sr: 4+ years of experience in Project Management, Construction Management, Electric Utility Industry, or related field Project Manager, Sr Lead: 6+ years of experience in Project Management, Construction Management, Electric Utility Industry, or related field
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position.
Expert in project and construction management fundamentals. Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology to transmission lines and substations. History of safe performance, active safety involvement and participation and strong desire for a safer workplace. Supervisory Experience with direct reports or in a matrix organization. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and project management applications, processes, software and equipment. Understanding of Industry Best Practices. Demonstrated cross-functional project leadership experience, team performance skills, service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor. Knowledge of Effective Estimating Practices.
