Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Project Architect with over 8 years of relevant professional experience. The ideal candidate is a licensed architect who will lead a team to create innovative and functional spaces that fulfill our clients’ vision. You will manage all phases of the client journey, using your advanced knowledge of architectural principles and practices. This is a full-time, exempt position requiring at least 40 hours per week.
ResponsibilitiesLead field measuring and CAD input of existing conditionsDocument existing conditions and conduct building code and life safety surveysLead ADA surveys and programmingPrepare due diligence reports and BOMA studiesRecommend property studies (Phase I, Soils, etc.) and review existing condition reportsSet project schedules and review all schematic documentsPerform space planning and produce schematic design plans, elevations, and sectionsLead client/user design meetings, maintain meeting minutes, and prepare client presentationsCreate outline specifications, renderings, and modelsReview cost estimates and conduct peer reviews for final schematic design approvalApprove and release consultants, select major engineering systems, and coordinate their integrationResearch and select products/materialsDevelop and review design development plans, elevations, and sectionsPrepare ICRA and phasing plansLead client/user design meetings and maintain meeting minutesDevelop 2-3 part specifications and review cost estimatesOversee consultants' production progress and conduct peer reviews for final design development approvalCoordinate final construction documents and lead client/user design meetingsFinalize 2-3 part specifications and review cost estimatesConduct research on permitting requirements and submit permit documentsTrack permits through the process and respond to permit questions and commentsAssist in creating bid lists, distributing contract documents, and responding to RFIsReview bids for completeness and accuracy, and prepare bid comparison spreadsheetsConduct pre-construction meetings and assist with writing minutesRespond to RFIs, review submittals, and manage ASIsAssist with applications for payments and prepare final punch listsApprove and sign applications for paymentsEssential SkillsLicensed architect with diverse knowledge of architectural principles and practicesProficient in Revit and construction document managementStrong project management skillsAdvanced techniques in architecture and responsibility for finished plans, specifications, and material approvalProfessional architectural degreeAbility to act independently regarding architectural methods and complexitiesExcellent communication and presentation skillsExperience in supervising and providing guidance to junior staffAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience in commercial and interior designKnowledge of construction administrationCapability to manage various project types including auto showrooms, data centers, healthcare, and banking/financeWork Environment
The office is located a few blocks from the inner harbor in a recently updated space. The company covers parking costs. The team consists of 20 employees, and the open office environment requires everyone to wear multiple hats. Flexible work schedules are offered, including one hybrid workday per week, which can be chosen by the employee. Opportunities for growth into senior project manager or principal roles are available.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $57.69/hr.
