**Position Overview:**
SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking a Facilities Design and Construction Project Manager to deliver world-class design and construction of facilities and infrastructure projects in support of world-changing scientific research. In this role, the project manager will be responsible for leading or supporting the planning, developing, procurement, design, construction, and close-out/transition to operations of projects up to $10M. SLAC currently has multiple ongoing projects to improve scientific research capabilities and to maintain existing infrastructure, including offices, administrative spaces, scientific laboratories, clean-rooms, and campus-wide supporting utilities and infrastructure. In addition to core duties, responsibilities include the following: manage project scope, schedule, cost, and risks; facilitate engineering design specifications development; integrate Environmental Safety & Health (ES&H) and building code compliance considerations in planning, design and construction of facilities. Oversee general contractor activities such as safety, pre-construction planning, construction quality, cost and schedule control, and construction conformance to approved project design and specifications.
This position will liaise with a broad range of client groups and stakeholders, including SLAC scientists and physicists, management and operations, finance and contracting, facilities engineers and technicians, and other project stakeholders. When supporting larger projects, this position may support a senior project manager or project director in managing engineering and design requirements, design and construction submittals, correspondence with project stakeholders and senior management, technical evaluations of bid proposals, development and review of construction cost estimates and project schedules, and similar tasks.
This position is an employee of Stanford University, providing support to the Department of Energy (DOE) contract at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. This position requires a personal and professional commitment to delivering safe, quality design and construction performance to support the science mission. This position reports to the Project Management Group within the Project Management Office.
**Your specific responsibilities include:**
+ Take projects from original concept through final implementation.
+ Perform the full range of project management cycle: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing. Lead projects requiring functional integration. Complete sub-project and/or stand-alone elements (or a contained project such as construction project).
+ Direct development of a project execution plan and estimate requirements for resources, including management, labor, materials, and time required to complete the project.
+ Facilitate discussions and negotiations to drive recommendation consensus within scope of responsibility.
+ Prepare change control requests to obtain project contingency from the Project Director on major projects or from the Minor Projects Program. Develop a communication plan relative to project scope and stakeholders on a focused project; actively manage resistance to change.
+ These elements typically delineate the project management involved at this level:
+ Charter: charter and scoping involvement or scope definition, identify and shape scope
+ Lower # of disciplines/stakeholders to manage with localized lab impact is contained to localized department
+ Risk: manage and report on risks associated with projects to Project Management Lead for minor projects and to Project Director/Project Manager on major projects.
+ Primary lab relationship is at the individual department/director level
+ Project budget/scope accountability up to $10M
**To be successful in this position you will bring:**
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field and three years of related experience in management of projects of moderate size/complexity with limited performance risk, including project planning, scheduling, tracking, and budgeting, or combination of education and relevant experience.
+ Polished written and oral communication skills to address a wide variety of audiences.
+ Ability to productively engage and influence cross-functional teams.
+ Demonstrated project management ability to employ integration, scope time management, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, and procurement components.

+ Experience in managing technical facilities construction projects.
**Certifications and Licenses:**
+ Project Management (PMI), Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
+ Engineer in training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification, preferred.
+ Professional Engineer (PE) license, or Registered Architect (RA) preferred.

The expected pay range for this position is $118,401 - $153,235 per annum. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory/Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
