Project Manager/EstimatorOverview:
The Project Manager/Estimator manages projects and estimating for site grading, utilities, and paving projects of various kinds and sizes, providing supervision and oversight of assigned employees and sub-contractors.
Primary Responsibilities:
Participates in pre-proposal operations and produces detailed estimates and technical narratives to present and negotiate with the clients Produces subcontractor bid packages, selects subcontractors and suppliers based best value, issues contracts and administers and oversees subcontractor activities. Coordinates with field personnel to ensure expectations are met Reviews subcontractor material, approved submittals and shop drawings and checks construction for compliance Produces in-house production reports, critical path schedules, schedules of value, progress reports, etc. as required to effectively manage several projects at once Coordinates with clients to ensure successful completion of projects and client satisfaction Exercises good judgment in utilizing the necessary authority to properly manage and execute construction contracts Coordinates field work with other project managers and superintendents Assures red line (as-builts) drawings are kept up to date in the field Participates in the company safety programSupervisory Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for supervision of assigned employees and subcontractors.
Education and/or Experience:
Ten years of experience in engineering, construction, or similar field with emphasis in project management and estimating for small to medium sized maintenance, repair and construction projects of various kinds. Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or construction management is preferred but extensive experience in lieu of degree will be considered. Must have experience working with estimating, cost control and scheduling. Experience and training must include understanding of site construction methods, techniques, equipment and hands-on experience in a supervisory position. Experience with earthwork take-off software/methods.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Applicants must possess excellent communication skills and be adept in managing multiple construction contracts from concept to completion. Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to positively interact with colleagues, client and subcontractors to achieve mutual goals Basic knowledge of administration and management. Must be able to plan, allocate resources, manage production and coordinate people and equipment. Strong coordination, time management, active listening, oral and written expression and comprehension, critical thinking and reasoning skills are required Must have the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong—to recognize problems when they occur and to work toward the solution of those problems Must be able to exercise good judgment when carrying out duties and to maintain good working relationships with the public and fellow employees Must be able to read, understand and apply information obtained from blueprints, surveys and job specifications Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite of products including, Word, Excel, Access and E-mail business software Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a team Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under a minimum of supervision Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects, and have a strong attention for detailCertificates, Licenses, Registrations:
