Overview Manage all aspects of capital renovation and construction projects of varying sizes for PPL buildings, and major building O&M projects when assigned, to help assure that corporate resources are utilized in the most cost-effective and functionally effective manner. Responsibilities Monitor cost and schedule performance of buildings capital projects and O&M projects (single projects over $5M, multiple projects to $5M each) to assure that schedule and cost commitments are met. Work with the Facilities Planner and internal customer groups to develop project scopes and prepare and obtain project authorizations for assigned projects. Assist the Facilities Planner in preparing documentation (including specifications and drawings) for bid packages for design and/or construction services; prepare requests for proposals; evaluate proposals; prepare purchase recommendations and contract documents as required. Provide monitoring and oversight on construction of all assigned projects, assuring that work is performed efficiently, effectively, and safely, and that all contract deliverables are received. Coordinate project turnover/occupancy by internal customers, project wrap-up, and all required project reporting to company management and internal customers. Provide liaison with internal customer groups to identify needs and the optimal way to achieve those needs. Assist in preparing department capital budgets and provide related input to preparation of the operating budget. Provide support for corporate and department goals as required; participate in teams for departmental planning, improvements, etc. as assigned. All positions in which driving is an essential function of the job, regardless of if the job code is marked safety sensitive or not, will also be included as safety sensitive. Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all policies and standards Qualifications Required Experience: Greater than 10 years’ experience and a High School/associate degree OR greater than 7 years’ experience with a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field. Ten to 15 years’ experience in design and construction, with 5-7 years related to building construction. Extensive knowledge of buildings systems design, building construction techniques and industry practices. Knowledge of procurement practices and policies, particularly for soliciting and executing agreements for design and construction services. Excellent negotiating and team-building skills; tact; ability to develop consensus agreements from divergent viewpoints. Extensive knowledge of corporate budget processes (capital and expense); knowledge of corporate accounting policies and practices. Familiarity with corporate organization structure and operational responsibilities of various departments. Excellent written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office and project scheduling software (Microsoft Project preferred). Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture highly desirable. Professional Engineering (PE) or Registered Architect (RA or AIA) highly desirable.
