We currently have an exciting opportunity within our corporate Facilities group as a Building Automation System Specialist, based in the San Diego, California.

Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for maintaining, testing, calibrating, servicing, modifying, rebuilding, repairing, programming and replacing the facility building automation systems in accordance with applicable building and mechanical codes, manufacturer's operation and maintenance manuals, and safety regulations. This position is responsible for leading and/or overseeing facility system maintenance, troubleshooting and repair/replacement of building automation systems responsible for the control of infrastructure mechanical systems and other remotely controlled or monitored machinery/equipment. This position uses blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications, and advanced computer skills in performance of job.  This position participates in and attends various department/division/work center meetings, seminars, training, and work-related events. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:Expert-level creative problem-solving skills required.Provides recommendations to enhance periodic inspections and determine cause of equipment malfunctions.Effectively communicates and interacts with co-workers, managers, vendors, or contractors sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give or receive work direction.Coordinates job activities between work requestor, facilities maintenance staff, or/and contractor personnel.Manages maintenance projects as they relate to HVAC building automation system repair, replacement or retrofit process.Intermediate to strong level of understanding and experience in the following trades: carpentry, plumbing, welding, painting, carpet care, appliance repair, roofing.Expert-level of understanding and experience in the following trades: electrical, refrigeration systems, HVAC, building automation systems.Expert skills regarding the operation of small hand and electrical tools.Understands and follows safe work practices for all trades, including but not limited to: Lockout Tag-out, Confined Space Entry, use of hazardous chemicals, use of Personal Protective equipment, ladder safety, and working from elevated surfaces.Reviews operations of the facilities and equipment to ensure proper operation; schedules preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance of building automation systems, HVAC systems, and other general building maintenance activities as required.Coordinates and oversees outside vendors; Directs plumbing, roofing, mechanical, and general contracted services to repair and maintain facilities as directed by manager.Develops and implements predictive maintenance strategies utilizing existing building automation systems.Proficient in utilizing CMMS system to manage daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual work order completion. Must perform other duties as assigned.Networks and collaborates with internal/external resources to implement facilities building automation initiatives.Reviews and comments on capital project engineering, design, and construction as it relates to HVAC and building automation systems. Acts as HVAC and building automation system subject matter expert throughout all phases of the project design review.Manages contractors associated with building automation system service, maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, and programming.Drives innovative solutions aimed at advancing building automation system capability throughout the campus infrastructure.Develops and reports on building automation system health and functionality.Partners/collaborates with affiliate groups to implement building automation system technology opportunities where applicable. Creates strategic roadmap of infrastructure building automation system retrofit/replacement based on condition assessment.Responsible for observing all Federal, State and Local laws, OSHA CAL-OSHA safety regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to maintain a productive and safe working environment in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.Complies with all regulations, local applicable laws regarding health, safety or environment and General Atomics Standard Operating Procedures and Policies.Ability to operate a motor vehicle (valid license required).  May require use of a personal, or company vehicle, or electrical cart.Must participate in the Facilities On-Call program as required.Other duties as assigned or required
