Project Manager - Power Generation
Summary

The Project Manager (power generation) shall develop, detail, and finalize the technical project design for power generation packages utilizing reciprocating gas engines in accordance with the turn-in data developed by the Applications Group and with the assistance of other Engineering Groups. This information shall be presented in the form of detailed project specific, process flow diagrams, process & instrumentation diagrams, general arrangement drawings, structural drawings, electrical drawings, data sheets, bills of materials, process & control narratives and installation, operation & maintenance reference literature. This work along with any other required data must be accomplished whilst complying with the company standards, the project proposal and the customers’ specifications or input. Responsibilities will include commercial and technical aspects of project management.
 

Principle Responsibilities and Duties

The Project Manager will lead all other Engineering Groups (process, instrumentation, controls, design & drafting, vessels and purchasing) in performing all tasks required to support the production of the final product including installation and commissioning. The Project Manager will be responsible as outlined in the detailed responsibilities listed below.

 

Interface with the Enerflex Applications Team, the Enerflex Engineering Team and our Customers

Support proposal activity to generate estimates and schedules. Post project award, liaise with the Enerflex Applications Team to hand over all data used for estimating and understand the background and particulars associated with the project. Identify the customer’s requirements (technical/products problems, execution issues) and bring effective solutions. Clarify technical issues pre and post order with the customer (technical clarification, answer technical comments, deviation requests) and achieve a resolution.  Attend certain internal and external meetings (kick off, coordination, HAZOP etc.).

Lead internal design activities and technical decisions to support the project

Develop the project P&ID’s and requisition all major equipment and coordinate all other deliverables. Participate in all aspects of design review with the project team. Generate the engineered Bill of Material for the assigned project items. Perform P&ID walk down of final package to ensure compliance with design.

Own the planning of all project activities. 

Manage and schedule the drawing list submitted to the customer. Follow up on technical and commercial issues through shipment and commissioning as needed. Monitor and control costs.

Support and interface with other company functions.

Design & Drafting: Coordinate and approve all design & drafting deliverables. Purchasing: Technical interface with buyers to confirm BOM accuracy for all assigned items. Manufacturing: Technical interface with shop personnel for all assigned items. Quality: Identify all testing specifications and signoff on all testing activities. Service: Support activities for all installation, commissioning, and startup needs. Qualifications Engineering or Engineering Technology degree or equivalent background  Minimum ten (10) years of experience with power generation equipment, process equipment or in manufacturing environments for engineered to ordered equipment. Experience with installation and construction of power islands preferred. Strong and analytical problem-solving skills Electric knowledge of generators and switchgear preferred. Experience with reciprocating engines or Turbines preferred. Solid customer-oriented skills (communicator, explainer) Basic knowledge of the fundamentals required by the equipment used in our products: Mechanical Design Instrumentation & Controls Generators  Switchgear Team Effectiveness: Interpersonal skills Professional attitude Verbal and Written Communication skills Solid IT skills Fluency in English Teamwork attitude

 

Training

Enerflex will provide sufficient training for all new Project Engineers to help them understand the processes, systems and business models that exist at Enerflex, so that they have the necessary technical aptitude to execute their work efficiently and effectively. The amount of training time devoted will depend on the person’s background, however it is expected that a college graduate will require additional training when compared to a person with work experience. Enerflex is committed to providing the appropriate level of training.

Physical Requirements Fast-paced general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity.  Domestic and international travel is possible on occasion.  During the installation phase of the project, frequent travel to site is expected. May be exposed to confidential information. Occasionally required to work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends.
