The Project Manager provides leadership for the overall operating performance of a water / wastewater construction project and is responsible for the overall safety, quality, completion, and financial outcome of a project, from the set-up of the initial budget through project closeout. Among many important responsibilities are ensuring that projects are executed safely, on time, and within budget. Other responsibilities include developing and maintaining positive relationships with the owner, design engineer, subcontractors, and vendors, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures and protection of the company’s interest.
Job Duties
Ensure a "Safety First" attitude throughout the project duration from all levels of management and field operations, including all subcontractors. Manage project costs through ongoing evaluation of labor, material, subcontracts, and equipment, and forecast and analyze construction costs, risks, and opportunities through project completion. Analyze weekly labor production. Ensure that weekly quantities are reported accurately. Search for ways to improve production. Lead subcontractor and material buyout and negotiate subcontract and purchase order agreements. Lead initial project planning and P6 scheduling and provide monthly updates. Generate solutions to stay ahead of schedule. Lead weekly meetings with the project team to discuss the four-week look-ahead schedule, labor production, submittals and material deliveries, RFIs, and quality issues. Prepare monthly owner billings and monitor collections. Prepare the project start-up and commissioning plan. Perform project close-out. Manage conflict resolution. Anticipate conflicts, communicate preventative action plans, and implement solutions to avoid issues.Leadership
Build relationships, motivate others, provide clear direction, foster teamwork. Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally. Train and mentor less experienced personnel.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or another related curriculum. 5+ years of experience in water/wastewater construction. Must possess superior construction knowledge, excellent personnel management skills, scheduling expertise, good knowledge and use of cost control procedures.
