The Project Medical Equipment Planner works under the direction of a Construction Project Manager or Medical Equipment Program Manager, and will serve as the medical equipment and accessory liaison amongst clinical, administrative, ancillary, financial and procurement departments. Working with healthcare professionals, this role will identify medical equipment requirements and coordinate with members of the project design team to complete project scope and design deliverables. This role is responsible for planning, procurement, and activation activities of medical equipment in development and construction projects. In partnership with Supply Chain Management, Biomedical professionals, and medical personnel, this role participates in the development and maintenance of enterprise-wide standards. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of medical equipment and must be able to complete work assignments autonomously, collaborate cross-functionally, and demonstrate strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

Equipment Planning
• Evaluate a project’s needs and develop recommendations for required medical equipment equipment in healthcare construction projects

• Inventory, evaluate, and quantify existing medical equipment, recommending potential re-use and/or retirement and disposition

• Plan, coordinate procurement, and facilitate activation of medical equipment for healthcare construction projects

• Maintain a working knowledge of existing facilities and medical equipment, as well as new and emerging equipment offerings



Project Management
• Prepare reports, schedules, location drawings and documents for planned equipment

• Communicate equipment specifications, utility requirements, and related considerations during the design process

• Collaborate with architects and engineers, reviewing their documents to ensure equipment is located and coordinated with drawings

• Obtain equipment quotes and advise on recommended medical equipment budget updates



Communication
• Develop effective relationships by providing information, advice, and expertise to stakeholders and project team members

• Collaborate cross-functionally to solve business problems

• Escalate issues/risks as appropriate

• Communicate progress and information



Compliance/Safety
• Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.

• Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.

• If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.

• Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.

Qualifications

Education
• Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent relevant experience (5+ yrs) – Required
• Master’s Degree, or equivalent relevant experience (8+ yrs) – Preferred

 


Certification & Licensures

 


Experience
• 3+ years’ experience in equipment planning in a healthcare environment – Required
• Familiarity with how cost estimates and schedules for projects are put together – Required
• Able to assess typical risks to scope, budget, and schedule – Required
• Project management experience in a healthcare environment – Preferred
• Superior analytical skills, with an ability to multi-task, and demonstrated ability to solve complex problems – Required
• Proven ability to independently set and meet deadlines, while working in a fast-paced environment, across multiple projects – Required
• Excellent oral and written communication, as well as ability to maintain confidentiality and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders – Required
• Mastery of various software packages (including: Microsoft Office, e-Builder, Blue Beam, 4Tower, Fitup) to generate reports, build and track project plans, as well as read and redline architectural drawings – Required
