This senior PM has the qualities of a trusted advisor, skilled at influencing outcomes and excellent communication skills. This PM is very comfortable leading cross-organization teams, ranging from IT engineers/analyst to C-Suite leaders. This role will build on the PMs technical experience in the areas of business systems implementations and supporting the back office. Accountable for on-time, on-budget, high quality project delivery; the PM plans, manages and leads the project throughout the life cycle. As a senior project manager, this PM is expected to handle 2 to 4 projects and varying stages of high complexity and risk.
Specific Responsibilities:
+ Leadership – Advocates for the project team, including cross-organization business stakeholders. Mentors other project managers; and proactively contributes to the continuous improvement of the IT PMO methodology. Has a very effective method of communication among all levels of stakeholders. Leads with initiative to solve project challenges, providing options and solutions.
+ Project Management – Collaborates to define the approach (Agile/Waterfall), tasks and timeline for the project, across the complete life cycle of an IT project from initiation to business benefits. Applies modern project management techniques to manage a project, achieve objectives of scope, and understands project drivers. Will organize and lead working meetings; prepare progress reports; present to executive steering committee on a regular basis; proactively identify and mitigate project risks and issues.
+ Team Management – Has strong strategies to hold project teams accountable for their project responsibilities and deliverables; proactively ensure that teams are "in sync" in terms of communication, schedules, issues, etc.; develop project teams by promoting empowerment, engagement and high-quality deliverables. Employs various strategies to build relationships with IT and business resources.
+ Process Management and Improvement – Champions continuous improvement and adoption of project management and system development life cycle (SDLC) best practices using innovative ideas to increase effectiveness.
+ Change Management – Create, lead and execute details of change management efforts that maximize employee change readiness for system, technology and process changes.
Work Location:US RemoteQualifications:
+ This is not an administrative project management position; this is a very hands-on project manager from defining approach and creating methodology specific to the project’s needs.
+ Strong understanding of Project Management methodologies and the system development life cycle (SDLC). Able to blend and “right-size” these practices to fit the project and business need.
+ Self-managed, proactive PM that will be a do-er with exceptional organization skills.
+ A strong communicator with the ability to pull out and summarize information and tailor communication style and content for a variety of audiences. Comfortable and confident presenting to executives.
+ Have an understanding of the “bigger picture”. Be able to conceptualize where and how the project fits into the company’s mission. Must be able to establish project goals, validate and confirm acceptance, challenge stakeholders, and hold stakeholders accountable.
+ Ability to take a consultative approach to understand requirements, drill into details, and resolve issues.
+ Ability to facilitate resolution of technical issues. Capable of interpreting technical information and communicating this information to different audiences in a way they can understand.
+ Experience leading a variety of different types of projects including COTS implementations, system integration, infrastructure, security and business process.
+ Skilled in building trusted relationships with team members and project stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
+ Ability to effectively address and resolve conflict within and across teams.
+ Deltek is a fast-paced and dynamic environment; the ability to multitask on different projects concurrently and react quickly to movements in the business is critical.
Experience:
+ 8-10 years of progressively responsible experience in software implementations, software development (preferably in a commercial software development environment), and business or organizational change management project management.
+ Proven project management on technical projects using project management best practices.
+ B.S., Computer Science, Business Administration or equivalent experience.
+ Proven experience managing projects with remote teams (desired)
+ Proven experience managing 3rd party COTS implementations and/or Infrastructure projects (desired)
+ Experience working in a Corporate IT department (desired)
+ Experience working in a PMO (desired)
+ Experience or background in Requirements Analysis and/or Consulting (desired)
+ Experience in organizational change management (desired)
