Job Description:

mWater System Management & Data Collection

Effective management of the mWater system ensures that data collection and monitoring are streamlined, providing accurate and real-time insights into WASH activities. This contributes to improved decision-making, timely interventions, and efficient resource allocation. Ensuring system reliability and data accuracy strengthens program outcomes and enhances accountability in reporting.

Set up and maintain mWater accounts, dashboards, and surveys for WASH program monitoring.Customize mWater surveys for water point assessments, household WASH surveys, and sanitation monitoring.Ensure real-time data synchronization from field teams and validate data accuracy.Provide technical support and troubleshooting for field teams using mWater.

Field Coordination & WASH Monitoring

Effective field coordination ensures that WASH data is accurately collected, aligned with national standards, and integrated into program planning. By conducting field visits and training teams, the WASH Officer enhances data reliability, enabling timely responses to public health concerns. This approach strengthens collaboration with key stakeholders and improves the overall impact of WASH interventions.

Conduct field visits to verify data quality and train enumerators on mobile data collection.Work with the Department of Public Health (DoPH) and other stakeholders to align mWater activities with national WASH policies.Oversee water quality testing data collection, particularly in areas affected by Acute Watery Diarrhea (AWD) or other emergencies.Integrate mWater with GIS mapping tools to visualize WASH infrastructure coverage and gaps.

Data Analysis & Reporting

Accurate and timely data analysis supports decision-making, trend identification, and strategic planning in WASH programs. By utilizing automated dashboards and analytical tools, the WASH Officer ensures that stakeholders receive actionable insights, contributing to improved water quality monitoring and enhanced program effectiveness.

Develop automated dashboards and reports for internal teams, donors, and WASH coordination platforms.Conduct trend analysis on water source functionality, water quality, and sanitation access.Support the integration of mWater data into grant reporting and donor proposals.

Capacity Building & Training

Building the capacity of WASH teams and local stakeholders ensures long-term sustainability of water and sanitation initiatives. Regular training and mentoring sessions enhance technical skills, improve data accuracy, and empower communities to manage and maintain WASH infrastructure effectively.

Develop and deliver training sessions for WASH teams, community leaders, and local government officials.Provide ongoing mentoring and refresher training to field staff to maintain data accuracy and consistency.

Coordination & Innovation

Strong coordination with governmental and non-governmental partners enhances WASH service delivery and ensures alignment with national policies. Embracing innovative technologies and approaches, such as mWater upgrades, improves data collection efficiency and program impact, leading to more effective and sustainable interventions.

Collaborate with SO, NO WASH Team, DME Team, UNICEF WASH Cluster, local NGOs, and government agencies to enhance WASH data-sharing and coordination.Explore new features and upgrades in mWater to improve efficiency in data collection and program monitoring.Required Professional ExperienceMinimum of 3 years of experience in WASH programs, including project implementation and community engagement.Strong understanding of water, sanitation, and hygiene issues in rural and peri-urban settings.Experience conducting baseline assessments and feasibility studies.Knowledge of water quality testing and monitoring techniques.Excellent training and facilitation skills.Strong WASH infrastructure implementation and monitoring skills.Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, and NGOs.Proficiency in using monitoring and evaluation tools, such as the mWater system.

Required Education, Training, and CertificationsUniversity degree in a relevant field.

Preferred Knowledge and QualificationsExperience in designing and implementing detailed WASH plans.Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methods.Strong training facilitation skills.Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
