CST on the closing date. A-State participates in E-Verify. Position Summary: Provides academic assistance an educational development to promote student success for current and prospective students. This includes pre-professional semester schedule planning, scheduling of shadowing experiences, and answering questions about the program during advising or recruiting events. Duties & Responsibilities: + Provides academic advising to students: + International Program requirements and advise accordingly + Monitor progress towards graduation dates + Schedules student advising meetings in a timely fashion + Facilitates changes of major, advising hold lifts, and advisor identification through internet Native Banner for all majors + Maintains accurate student records + Accurately advises students according to degree requirements + Assist students in the creation of 4-year student educational plans (SEPS) for applicable major + Will be a liaison with all student clubs and organizations + Communicate with the University Advising Center + Maintains good rapport with all student advisors + Recruits and promotes programs by participating in: + Area career and academic fairs + Ambassador Program + BCoSM Clubs + STEM Den – Living Learning Community (LLC) + Honors College Days + Assist with New Student Registration Days and Preview Days + Assist in retention efforts + Serve on appropriate campus advisory committees + Corresponds with all student services areas across campus and works fluidly with each department as needed in regard to the needs of student advisors + Other duties as assigned Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Written and verbal communication skills Proficient with technology Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines General Days/Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Additional hours as requested and/or needed Regular and reliable attendance Other: Please note: all position postings close at 12:00 A.M. CST on the position closing date Work with the Dean of Beck College of Sciences & Mathematics and the Dean of University College, as well as other individuals in the University Advising Center for training in areas of advising and retention efforts. Ability to work with target student populations in areas of academics and career planning.
