Project Structural Engineer

We are hiring for a Project Structural Engineer to join our team on a full-time, direct basis and lead projects while based in the Philadelphia, PA area.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Oversee a variety structural design, renovation, and inspection projects for various applications:  renovations, adaptive reuse, etc. Perform structural design & analysis of building structural systems for a variety of markets:  commercial, institutional, educational, public-sector, and/or industrial facilities. Design, detailing, and analysis of structures for low-rise & high-rise buildings with a variety of materials (e.g.:  concrete, steel, masonry, masonry, wood, and cold-form metal). Prepare calculations and drawings for reports. Develop finite element models for the analysis of complex structures. Perform a variety of field-oriented tasks (e.g.:  investigations, site visits, threshold inspections, condition assessments, etc.) and develop corresponding site visit reports. Work directly with clients to foster positive relationships. Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.

 

 

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related technical discipline (i.e.:  Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, etc.). 5 years of professional experience working in Engineering (preferably with Structural projects). Active P.E. license in PA (we will consider candidates who are able to successfully obtain their PE within 6 months of their start date).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Management and/or Project Management experience; proven ability to oversee multi-disciplinary projects is a plus! Experience working with the design and analysis of a variety of structural systems / complex projects; experience with nonlinear structural analysis is a plus! Experience working with structural inspections / assessments, especially with renovation projects. Proficiency with engineering / CADD / BIM tools; experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit is a preferred. Working knowledge of structural analysis software; experience with RAM (especially Structural Systems and/or Elements), STAAD, ENERCALC, and/or Mathcad is preferred. Proficiency on all standard Microsoft Office software applications. Strong analytical skills. Strong attention-to-detail skills with the proven ability to work with a high-level of accuracy. Proven ability to work independently in a team environment with minimal supervision. Proven ability to work in a self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments. Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
