Key Responsibilities:

The Go Baby Go! Parenting Program (GBG PP) model aims to strengthen caregiver confidence and competence, to provide nurturing care to infant and young children, especially in the first 1000 days so they can reach their full potential. GBG PP aims to build knowledge and skills and promotes the use of child development-promoting techniques, as well as enhancing adult life skills in order to facilitate improved parenting practices at the household level. It embraces an integrated approach that facilitates caregivers’ holistic understanding of the interrelatedness of health, nutrition, protection and development while also providing self-care strategies for caregivers to better fulfill their role as first teachers and protectors. Through this project, it will prevent malnutrition for children ages 0 to 3 years old by promoting adequate care and feeding practices to caregivers. The first step within this process is training the GBG facilitators and GBG mentors who are recruited from within the local community to establish ownership of the GBG approach and ensure ongoing sustainability. It is hoped that through this process a community group will form, or an existing group will take on responsibility for the sustainability of GBG in the community. GBG PP focuses on male and female parents and other child-minders, but places their role within the family and community context, with the recognition that all have critical value in a child’s early life experience. It strengthens or forms networks so most vulnerable families are supported and connected with essential services for the baby’s holistic development. GBG PP is delivered via 10+ contextualized experiential learning caregiver sessions.

Prior to the GBG PP training roll-out in the chosen area program, the manual, reference cards, and guiding documents will be adapted according to the culture, tradition, and practices. Sessions will also integrate child protection and spiritual nurture concepts, ensuring project quality and impact. The second component of the GBG program includes a minimum of 4 home visits with special care given to reach and provide extra support to the most vulnerable families and facilitating referrals for services as needed. The caregivers attending GBG will be encouraged to develop Early Childhood Development action plans for their community and will be supported to continue meeting together to work towards putting the ECD action plan into place. World Vision improves health and nutrition among children and their families by promoting long-term behavioral changes, teaching practical and holistic early child development practices to parents and caregivers, and providing accessible sanitation facilities in schools and communities. It is anchored on the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2 and 3 focused on achieving zero hunger, ensuring healthy lives, and promoting wellbeing for all at all ages.
