What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: Responsible for technical leadership of a project as well as for supporting the Project Manager in managing project performance of the engineering team with respect to cost, schedule and Client satisfaction. This work will be performed under minimal supervision.

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Refinery Management, the Production Engineer and the Reliability Engineer to develop and execute projects to improve the safety, reliability and profitability of the refinery.

Provide leadership for the projects execution team

Outside contractors

Project Design Engineers

Operations Specialist

Field Construction Coordinator

Drafting/Design/Engineered Records Specialist

Other plant technical support

In-plant contract design contractors

PBU Strategist, Technical Manager and SGS staff on very large projects

Project Leadership

MOC, act as TAC

Ensure that project processes are followed in “fit for purpose” manner

Ensure MOC process is followed

Write project Investment Proposals

Obtain AFE

Coordinate design effort

Coordinate field construction effort

Coordinate procedures updates

Coordinate Start-up assistance if required

Coordinate project controls

Ensure MOC is closed

Project execution

    Work with Project Design engineers to develop project design.

    Bid/Order all required project materials

Coordinate selection of installation contractors

Coordinate all field activities to meet project schedule

Work with Operations Specialist to produce operating procedures as required.

Assist with start-up

Project controls

Provide oversight for project timeline

HSE

Responsible for Safety of anyone working on projects

Routine safety field walks expected

Training as BBS observer required (Behavior Based Safety)

All projects shall be executed using good environmental stewardship.

Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited university is required.

Registration: Professional Engineering and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) registration is highly preferred.

Experience: This position requires 5+ years of relevant experience in engineering and project management.  

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the Hargrove project execution procedures.

Knowledge and application of company business standards and good practices.

Knowledge and application of company engineering standards and project controls tools.

Ability to lead a team to deliver on commitments.

A comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction processes.

Demonstrated proficiency in complex technical issues coordination and resolution.

Ability to manage client relationships in complex situations.

Ability to relate easily to others in the business community such as customers, suppliers, contractors, government, professional and trade associations.

Ability to handle stress with poise.

Understanding of existing and potential customer needs and preferences.

Ability to delegate authority appropriately.

Ability to clearly communicate expectations and requirements to team members and to structure accountability.

Organizational skills, ability to set priorities.

Coaching and mentoring skills and experience.

Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Excellent presentation skills.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
