Job Description

Make an impact

As a Property Accountant for our new development properties, you will handle accounting tasks specifically designed for both office buildings and multifamily residences under construction or recently developed. You will oversee the full accounting cycle, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, financial reporting, and accounts receivable/payable. Collaborating closely with property management, asset management, and other departments, you will ensure the delivery of accurate financial results for our innovative property projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for new development properties.Manage accounting operations such as Billing, A/R, A/P, and Treasury specific to development activities.Reconcile bank accounts, tenant CAM (Common Area Maintenance), rent roll, and security deposits associated with newly developed properties.Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes for all new units and buildings.Handle general ledger analysis and financial audits for the development portfolio.Prepare budgets, financial forecasts, and analyze variances related to new projects.Perform cash management functions and manage cash disbursements and receipts for development expenses.Ensure accuracy in financial transactions and reporting for new properties.Research and resolve questions from property managers regarding tenant statements for new developments.

What you should bring to the role

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, or equivalent experience.1-5 years of experience in real estate accounting (both multifamily and commercial real estate preferred, especially in new developments).Strong understanding of accounting principles and real estate databases pertinent to new projects.Proficiency in Excel and accounting software tailored to development finances.Experience with financial audits, budget preparation, and CAM reconciliations for newly constructed properties.Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects related to new developments while ensuring accuracy.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail regarding financial details of new properties.Ability to work with different teams and departments during the development process.Familiarity with real estate financial reporting, including contracts and property management transactions for new developments.Experience in preparing budgets and forecasts for new projects, alongside handling corporate accounts.A commitment to following company policies, state, and federal laws related to real estate development.
