Property Accountant
Description Robert Half is working with a family owned and operated Property Management company who are seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to join their team in West Los Angeles. This role focuses heavily on Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations and requires experience using Yardi software. The ideal candidate will manage the financial aspects of a commercial and/or residential real estate portfolio, working closely with property management teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. This position requires a candidate to work on site 5 days per week. Key Responsibilities: + CAM Reconciliations: Prepare, review, and analyze annual CAM reconciliations for multiple properties. + Yardi Software: Utilize Yardi to record financial transactions, generate reports, and ensure accurate data management. + General Ledger: Maintain and reconcile general ledgers, ensuring proper entries for property-related transactions. + Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for property owners and managers. + Accounts Payable/Receivable: Manage AP/AR for properties, including tracking tenant billings, rent collections, and vendor payments. + Lease Administration: Review lease agreements to ensure accurate financial interpretation, particularly related to CAM charges and recoveries. + Audit Support: Assist with external and internal audits by providing documentation and answering queries. + Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate with property management to prepare annual budgets and provide financial forecasts. + Variance Analysis: Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies between actuals and budgeted figures, and provide insights for corrective action. Requirements Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. + Minimum of 3-5 years of property accounting experience, with a focus on CAM reconciliations. + Proficiency in Yardi software is required. + Strong understanding of GAAP as it relates to property management. + Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills. + Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. + Solid communication skills to liaise with property managers, owners, and tenants. Preferred Skills: + Experience in commercial real estate accounting. + Familiarity with property tax and insurance allocations. + Knowledge of other property management software is a plus.
