Manages the tax liability of the company including the planning, accounting, filing, and reporting process; gathers information for purposes of satisfying property tax requirements at all levels of jurisdiction.
**Overview:**
The Property Tax Analyst will report to the Property Tax Team Leader. The Property Tax Analyst must be able to utilize software systems to perform property tax filings and process property tax payments, including use of SAP, Total Property Tax System (3rd party property tax system), Excel and other tools. The work is dynamic, fast-paced, and requires multi-tasking with a continuous improvement mindset. Significant problem-solving and analytical skills are required to pay the correct amount of tax. The Property Tax Analyst must be a self-starter and be willing to work with external taxing jurisdiction personnel to minimize annual tax liability. Training will be provided.
**Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:**
+ Analyze fixed assets by taxing jurisdiction to determine the taxability of the assets based on each jurisdiction’s laws for those assets.
+ Gather required data to prepare annual tax return forms on taxable and reportable personal property.
+ Analyze assessment valuation notices on real and personal property to determine reasonableness of fair market values calculated.
+ Process large volume of property tax bills and work with taxing jurisdiction as issues arise.
+ Maintain real and personal property parcel and accounting GL data in the property tax “Total Property Tax” system.
+ Seek to improve tax compliance procedures by suggesting best practices and efficiencies.
+ Maintain accuracy and strict adherence to return filing and tax bill payment due dates.
+ Research delinquent tax bills to determine if they are the responsibility of Chevron.
+ Stay current with changes in business operations, regulatory requirements, and accounting systems.
+ Assist Property Tax Representatives with jurisdictional audit responses and other ad hoc inquires.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, or minimum of 4 years’ experience in taxation or finance related disciplines
+ Strong Accounts Payable skills, especially processing a large volume of bills
+ Working experience in SAP and be a highly competent computer/systems user
+ Fluent in digital skills (MS Power BI, MS Power Apps, MS Power Automate, Power Query / Macros).
+ Effective verbal and written communication skills
+ Strong problem solving and analytical skills
+ Organized, attention to detail and ability to multitask
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Experience with Total Property Tax System or other Property Tax Compliance System
