JOB SUMMARY Assists in administering the Property Tax Division’s responsibilities by preparing and mailing the notice of property valuation and tax change, managing the application process for the Board of Equalization, reconciling tax collections, and conducting the annual tax sale of delinquent properties. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, law, public administration or other related field, plus three (3) years of closely related experience; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS + Administer one or more division program(s); fulfill program goals and objectives and/or participate in committees established to support the program + Analyze, summarize, and/or review data; report findings, interpret results and/or make recommendations + Maintain technical data, generate reports and findings, and defend analytical work during hearings or litigation + Review documents and reconcile discrepancies; make needed adjustments + Review and/or evaluate reports, documents, laws, rules, and regulations; edit, prepare, or approve summaries of findings + Ensure compliance with applicable state and county laws, regulations, statutes, and/or agency rules, standards, and guidelines + Conduct research in assigned areas, including property records, abstracts, public directories, or from among other available sources to assure legal compliance with statutory duties + Develop and maintain audit procedures to evaluate workflow, fairness, and accuracy for exemptions and/or appeals + Anticipate the impact that new or modified software will have on existing standards and systems + Recommend user level computer system enhancements to better meet customer needs + Assist in the collection of delinquent taxes not collectable through an established process; prepare legal warrants as directed + Mentor subordinate seasonal personnel including: determining workload, delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective action + Prepare public documents, as required by statute, for distribution to property owners, appropriate taxing entities, and/or the public + Provide administrative support and expertise for public meetings as deemed necessary. + Interpret, clarify, explain, and apply agency policy and procedures, business practices, federal, state, or county laws and regulations + Receive, research, and respond to incoming questions or complaints; provide information, explain policy and procedure, and/or facilitate a resolution + Act as a resource for management and staff; provide technical support within area of responsibility KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA) Knowledge of: • Utah tax laws, State Tax Commission rules, and county ordinances governing property tax administration • Accounting principles • Computer software related to job specific duties • General office procedures and methods • Communication principles, methods, and techniques • Local county government organization and administration Skills and Abilities to: • Perform calculations with a high level of accuracy and complete detailed reports • Manage time wisely with narrow and overlapping deadlines • Conduct thorough audits and corrections of incoming and outgoing documents • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing • Use logic to analyze or identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts associated with information or data to draw conclusions and make recommendations • Relate to individuals of diverse social, economic and ethnic backgrounds • Read and interpret written policies, procedures, regulations, ordinances and statutes • Work independently, make professional decisions, work well with other individuals • Apply and articulate professional standards and procedures • Follow verbal and written procedures and instructions • Respond effectively in stressful situations • Act ethically Job LocationsUS-UT-SALT LAKE CITY Requisition ID2024-37727 # of Openings1 Requisition Post Information* : Posted Date3 days ago(1/27/2025 3:53 PM) SLCO Department (Portal Searching)Auditor Location : LocationUS-UT-SALT LAKE CITY Location : Address2001 S STATE ST Location : Postal Code84190 Position Type (Portal Searching)Regular Full-Time (Merit) Requisition Post Information* : Post End Date2/11/2025 Grade015 Posted Min$58,661.00/year Posted Max$73,327.00/year
