Proposal Writer
Overview JOB SUMMARY: The Proposal Writer role is responsible for providing professionally written responses to formal solicitations (e.g., RFI, RFP, etc.). The content to be created is both technical and project management focused and is generated using an interview approach. Additionally, this role will assist Proposal Managers in the coordination of proposal activities required to submit a complete response that is compliant with the terms and conditions of a solicitation. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ability to interview technical team members and gather the details of a high-level technical approach, including components of the solution proposed, and writing our approach and how it benefits or meets the overall business needs of the prospect. Ability to understand and write about project management concepts, procedures, and schedules in a manner that both technical and non-technical evaluators understand. Conducts research and study of open-source domain knowledge and materials related to the proposal subject and context to develop effective writing and to inform discussion with Subject Matter Experts (SME). May work on federal, state, local, commercial, and non-government proposals. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather technical information and understand the organization's capabilities, making sure of accurate and compelling representation in proposal content. Able to gather information in a variety of ways (brainstorming sessions, whiteboarding, SME interviews, research, consolidation of previously developed written materials, etc.) and translate it into compelling content. May take initiative in leading or coordinating solutioning meetings and assist in the development of win themes and compelling proposal content that result from meetings. Participates in proposal strategy and design sessions, assisting the proposal team in incorporating win themes, competitive themes, and other strategic content into the proposal outline, and identifying gaps in responsiveness to the solicitation that need to be addressed. Write exemplary proposals with a keen sense of attention to detail. Make sure of compliance and responsiveness to team and customer needs. Work closely with technical SMEs, architects, and operations staff to collect data required for past performance development and resume tailoring. Write, edit, and revise proposal materials and coordinate with technical and program personnel to make sure of accuracy. Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers. Analyze RFP requirements and participate in color reviews. Responsible for recovering color team feedback into the next draft by working with SMEs to improve the content based on reviewer feedback. Participate in peer editing and production review. Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., English, Technical Writing, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline). 5+ years of experience writing persuasive content for government and commercial proposals that are clear, concise, compliant, and responsive. Must be a US Citizen Shipley training or Shipley certification, is preferred. High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Prior experience with responses to federal government proposals. Familiarity with federal procurement processes, including FAR, DFARS, and other relevant regulations and compliance requirements. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of work for this role is performed in a home office and interacts with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. Telecommuters are expected to have sufficient home office space that appears neat, organized, and professional when on video meetings.
