The Battery Management System (BMS) Calibration & End-of-Line (EoL) Engineer is pivotal in supporting design and release teams in manufacturing and assembly plants. This role involves close collaboration with lead BMS and Pack Integration Design Release Engineers (DRE), software engineers, technical specialists, other engineers, and plant personnel to ensure the successful implementation of the Battery Management System within the battery pack assembly and vehicle integration.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and verify BMS calibrations.Perform Battery EoL testing and assist in troubleshooting, reporting issues for resolution.Support problem-solving activities by analyzing EoL data using Vector CAN tools, INCA, or plant tester diagnostic tools, and visual inspection.Assist in authoring EoL tester change requests.Aid in change control and establishment of clean points, which may require part relabeling or offline re-flashing as needed.Establish and document new requirements, best practices, and lessons learned with guidance from BMS engineering.Support vehicle triage and systems-level troubleshooting of the battery pack on the vehicle assembly line and provide flexibility to support field issues.Demonstrate proficiency in data collection, post-processing, and analysis during calibration release Design Verification Plan (DVP) activities.Analyze functional models to identify root causes and document controls and software issues blocking calibration progress.Perform virtual and in-vehicle testing to achieve calibration maturity at each vehicle milestone of the program.Collaborate with the center of competency to review issues with functional area integration and follow guidance for calibration best practices and methodology.Support vehicle fleet and logistics activities.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.Experience with high voltage battery or high voltage powertrain systems.Proficiency in electronic system-level troubleshooting and embedded controls/complex function root cause analysis.Understanding of diagnostics fundamentals.Extensive knowledge and hands-on use of INCA, CDA, CAN, CANalyzer, Canoe, and other electrical root cause tools, such as oscilloscopes.Additional Skills & QualificationsFamiliarity with AutoSAR and Battery Management Systems.Work EnvironmentThis position is based onsite at the Advanced Research & Development Center (ARDC). Driving a company vehicle is required. Occasional travel to the US for meetings and training sessions is expected, approximately 1 to 2 times per month.
