**Protection & Control Applications Supervisor (Forest Park)** **SCS, Technical Shared Services, Protection & Control Applications Department** _This position will be located in Forest Park, GA (Metro Atlanta)_ **POSITION SUMMARY** This position supervises the TSS Engineering - Protection & Control Applications-East Group (PCA). PCA works to ensure the safe installation, delivery, and use of reliable and affordable electric energy though leadership, engineering expertise, teamwork, and the promotion of continuous improvement in the fields of transmission system protection applications and performance, short circuit modeling and impact studies, and compliance requirements related to these fields. PCA specifies applications, sets, and coordinates dependable and secure transmission equipment protection systems that can be safely installed and maintained and are compliant with all company and regulatory requirements. PCA maintains the system short circuit model and performs short circuit studies for various applications including evaluating of safe work practices and procedures, planning and design criteria, and interconnection requirements. PCA is also responsible for providing technical support for construction activities, emergency restoration of the system, operational scenarios, system event analysis, new customer evaluations, and Georgia ITS requirements. The PCA Supervisor will provide leadership for the team, ensure work is appropriately assigned and performed, interface with business partners concerning requirements and results, and provide for the employees' technical and professional development. This position will have performance management responsibilities for 8-10 employees, plus a Team Leader. **POSITION QUALIFICATIONS** **_Education Requirements:_** + BS degree in Engineering (not Engineering Technology) is required. + BS degree in Electrical Engineering is strongly preferred. + Professional Engineering license is strongly preferred. **_Experience Requirements:_** + At least 5 years prior experience in protection systems, operations, substations, planning, and/or engineering design is required. + Experience in protection and control system applications, settings, design, or commissioning is strongly preferred. + Direct and significant experience in protection and control system applications and settings is preferred. + Formal supervisory experience is strongly preferred. **_Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:_** + Proven ability to successfully implement and lead safe work behaviors and solutions in the workplace. + Proven ability to achieve results through effective interpersonal, analytical, communication, teamwork, negotiation, and presentation skills. + Proven skills in the areas of performance management, employee development, and inclusion. + Proven ability to make educated decisions and take action in normal and emergency situations. + Proven ability to establish and maintain peer and customer relationships across organizational lines. + Time management skills sufficient to help manage projects of the team with various priorities and competing deadlines. + Knowledge of Southern Company’s current design practices, standards, and procedures. + Knowledge of transmission protection systems, PRC Compliance requirements, and short circuit analysis is preferred. + Broad knowledge of the construction, operation, and maintenance of Transmission and Distribution facilities. + Knowledge of Georgia ITS process and requirements is strongly preferred. **_Behavioral Attributes:_** + Model "Our Values" of Safety First, Intentional Inclusion, Acting with Integrity, and Superior Performance. + Safety focused with understanding that properly engineered solutions are paramount to the welfare of personnel and the public. + Customer focused with desire to incorporate customer perspective into solutions and deliverables. + Strong emphasis on continuous improvement and promoting being a Learning Organization. + Takes responsibility and ownership for projects and issues.
