Protein Engineering Biochemistry Scientist (all genders)
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
You play a hands-on bench scientist (all genders) role designing, validating and executing biochemical and cell-based assaysYou evaluate protein-ligase enzymes and characterize their activity profile in relevant assay formatsYou scout, evaluate, implement and run state-of-the-art high throughput compatible proximity labeling assays for protein ligasesYou co-design and manage a Protein Engineering project for engineering the labeling profile of protein-ligase enzymesYou perform or support genotype/phenotype correlation of functional enzyme variants and the design of enzyme librariesYou coordinate Protein Engineering work packages across various project team functions, including Screening, Molecular Biology and ProteomicsYou provide and exchange experimental results frequently within local and international project teams
WHO YOU ARE
You hold a PhD in biochemistry, cell biology, in vitro pharmacology (all genders) or a related discipline; Postdoctoral research experience is a plusYou bring essential hands-on experience with biochemical assays, including ELISA and fluorescence- / UV-based assays (preferably HTS compatible)You have experience in mammalian cell-culture, skills in the cultivation of bacteria and/or yeast are a plusYou demonstrate competency in protein analytical methods and enzyme kineticsYou demonstrate competencies in rational or semi- rational enzyme design and / or Structural Biology and experience in protein-ligase enzymology, as well as skills in proteomics, mass spectrometry and protein purification are beneficialYou exhibit excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, outstanding analytical thinking, as well as enthusiasm for hands-on bench workYou show curiosity and passion for researchYou are fluent in English, both written and spoken
