We are looking for an experienced Prototype Designer. **DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES** + Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to understand design challenges and help provide solutions + Translating engineering data to buildable scale or full-size mockups + Developing functional prototypes and test hardware + Creating and manipulating CAD models, assemblies, and schematics + Working with complex engineering requirements + Using hand tools, power tools, and machines to fabricate components + Fabricating products from a variety of raw materials, including wood, metal, composites, and plastic + Lifting and moving heavy objects and materials + Adhering to safety guidelines and shop protocols + Perform other duties as assigned **QUALIFICATIONS:** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. **Education & Experience** + Technical certification or degree in Design, Engineering, or related discipline + Experience in Solidworks, Rhino, or other CAD software + Ability to create schematics and assembly drawings + Knowledge of materials, fasteners, and manufacturing processes + Safe operation of hand and power tools + Rapid Prototyping + Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment + Careful attention to detail + Strong presentation skills + Knowledge of CAM software such as Mastercam or VCarve is a plus + Operation of 3D Printers, Laser Cutters, CNC Routers, Mills, and Lathes is a plus **Essential Functions** Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task. **Requirements** + Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation. + Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised. + Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position. **Physical Requirements** + Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time).
