Provider Coding Educator
**Description** **PeaceHealth is seeking a full time Provider Coding Educator in Vancouver, Washington. (Travel may be required)** The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $33.23 – $49.85. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. This position is responsible for the evaluation of provider documentation for completeness and validates correct assignment of ICD-10, CPT-4, HCPCS and modifiers, in accordance with, official coding guidelines and company policies for professional fee coding in the inpatient and outpatient setting. **What you will enjoy:** + Performs chart/ coding audits as required by coding system regulatory policies and procedures and according to established internal coding audit plan. Participates in development of action plans to include follow up education on identified issues with subsequent audit and reassessment. + Utilizes auditing software and tools to complete provider reviews. + Develops training materials and curriculum for coding and providers. + Serves as an expert resource for ICD-10/CPT-4 as it affects coding, billing, compliance, charge capture and reimbursement. Assists with re-training efforts as a result of coding errors found. Delivers training and standards as directed. + Conducts new provider orientation and provides coding feedback during their orientation period. + Delivers coding compliance outcomes and education in approved format (ie virtual or face to face) + Identifies high risk providers and develop education plan + May work in tandem with PHMG Coding team to identify aberrant coding patterns and trends. + Conducts coding quality reviews on implemented coding tools that utilize artificial intelligence (AI) + Provides coding support to PeaceHealth entities as required. + Performs other duties as assigned. **What you will bring:** + Completion of an Accredited Program in Coding or combination of education and experience that provides the caregiver with the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job. + Minimum of 3 years Acute or professional coding and/or auditing experience. + Certified Professional Coder, Certified Professional - Healthcare Info & Mgmt Systems,Certified Coding Specialist Physician or other HIM recognized, related credential. **Additional Skills:** + Excellent verbal and written communication skills including sensitivity to other cultures and ethnicities. + Strong analytical skills. + Previous training experience and curriculum design a plus. + Excellent ability for conceptual thinking, good listening, problem resolution and planning skills. + Excellent organizational skills. + Public speaking/presentation skills. + Computer skills in Outlook and Microsoft Office, and other graphic design tools. Knowledge of PeaceHealth EHR and /3M software preferred. + Ability to work with basic office equipment. + Ability to work well independently and in a remote environment. + Knowledge including, as appropriate, ICD-10, and HCPCS/CPT coding, regulatory Medicare, Medicaid and third party regulations. **Working Conditions:** + Consistently operates computer and other office equipment. + Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. + Sedentary work. + Predominantly operates in an office environment. + Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information. + The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
