Provider Compensation Analyst

The SEARHC Provider Services Analyst is responsible for conducting comprehensive provider compensation analyses, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organizational and regulatory standards and industry benchmarks. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex compensation structures to support organizational objectives and provider services departmental functions.

This role will be responsible for evaluating provider compensation structures, supporting decision-making around provider compensation approaches through analysis, assessment and modeling. The analyst will provide actionable insights to support the organization’s goals for provider compensation and contracting, including an emphasis on provider recruitment, retention, and performance.

This role involves developing and improving processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in provider compensation analysis, compensation plan development, interfaces with stakeholders and process and workflow development. The analyst will collaborate cross-functionally with operational and clinical leadership to support data-driven decision-making around provider compensation. A deep understanding of physician compensation models, provider contracts, and industry best practices is essential as well as an understanding of the complexities of the Southeast Alaskan healthcare landscape.

Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job

Promote and integrate the SEARHC mission, vision and values is all aspects of job responsibilities and accountabilities, maintaining a service-oriented and quality-focused culture within SEARHC.

Analyze and develop physician compensation models comparing against industry and third-party benchmarks and internal standards.

Utilize understanding of provider compensation methodologies and plans and make thoughtful recommendations on provider compensation models to align with business objectives.

Partner with outside firms, provider services director and SEARHC legal department and to ensure fair market value and commercial reasonableness in compliance with applicable regulations.

Conduct internal compensation analysis and assessments.

Provide analytical support for letters of intent, new provider contracts, contract renewals, amendments and negotiations at the direction of the provider services director.

Provide guidance and interpretation of compensation policies/programs.

Evaluate and manage requests for new contracts and contract modifications.

Partner with stakeholders across departments and clinical service lines to ensure all necessary information is gathered and understood when putting together provider compensation terms.

Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders the details of provider compensation components.

Identify areas of opportunity and partner to design, develop and implement effective and efficient workflows related to provider compensation matters.

Develop compensation reports and dashboards for various physician specialties and practices.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date data on physician contracts and compensation.

Prepare regular and ad-hoc compensation reports for leadership and other stakeholders.

Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to physician compensation, including Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Statute.

Assist Provider Services Director with projects as directed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field

Master’s degree preferred.

Experience

2-5 years of experience in healthcare provider compensation analysis.

Knowledge and understanding of healthcare provider compensation models and methodologies, compensation benchmarking, contracting and associated regulatory requirements.

Experience working with providers in various clinical specialties and environments and operational awareness a plus.

Project management experience a plus.

Knowledge of

In-depth knowledge of physician compensation models, market trends, and regulatory requirements.

Knowledge of healthcare-related compensation practices.

Understanding of Alaskan healthcare market a plus.

Skills in

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights, compensation recommendations and assessments.

Strong organizational skills

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SmartSheet and SharePoint

Data visualization and reporting software proficiency a plus
