Provider Contract Manager

The Manager of Contract Management is responsible for the development and execution of contracts under the supervision of the Corp VP, Finance Clinic Operations with a dotted line to the Director, Contract Management. These responsibilities include the drafting, implementation, tracking and updating of medical service contracts for LCMC and maintaining appropriate records of these activities. This position contributes to the oversight and management of physician contracts for the LCMC hospitals and serves as a liaison between the Hospitals and Medical Group as to employment and independent contractor agreements.

GENERAL DUTIES:

Organizational Contract Development & Oversight:Oversees organizational contract development and management activities, enforces organizational principles of integrity and compliance.Ensures that contracts and proposals are properly entered into organizational databases and securely maintained in accordance with established procedures.Coordinates with recruiters, operations officers and managers in the preparation and provision of draft contracts for their use with physicians who are/will be providing services to, or for LCMC. Updates the database to assure that accurate and current information regarding physician contract status is available.Coordinates and assists Payroll and Human Resources in resolving contract-related issues. May coordinate and facilitate the payment to, or repayment by, the physician of signing bonuses, moving expenses, asset purchases and other negotiated reimbursements or payments.Serves as primary contact and resource to contract administrators. Prepares, presents for review, and sends out letters of intent, amendments, and notices to terminate employment.Performs the negotiation and management of contracts and non-disclosure agreements (customers, suppliers, and other) with the support of applicable departments impacted by the contract  Counsels, assists the operational and functional departments on their contract performance obligations and any contracts issues.Provides notification to Operations Officers of approaching expirations of or expired contracts in a timely manager and on a regular basis. Researches expired contracts and initiates action to resolve.Ensures the protection of the organization's interests with respect to Patents, Intellectual Property Rights and Proprietary Information in general through the use of contract provisions and non-disclosure agreements or other types of contractual documents.Follows the organization's ethics and business conduct policies. Conforms to the training requirements for Trade Compliance or other company policies and procedures. Supports the organization's corporate-led projects relating to the contracts function as requested.Develop Standards For Contracts:Develops standards for contracts, including presentation of budget, payment terms, general language, and provisions. Performs appropriate clinical, administrative, and operational research to support proposal and contract development.Ensures accuracy and appropriateness of contract text and attachments. Maintains deadlines on deliverables and communicates on an ongoing basis with business partners and internal clients about contractual issues.Tracks contract claims against the company and reports pre-litigation issues to legal.Ensures engagement and buy-in of all business owners during the life of contracts.Demonstrates a continuous effort to improve department operations, decrease turnaround times, eliminate non-value-added activities, and work cooperatively to provide the quality customer service inside and outside the organization.Coordinates the contract signature process with the respective leaders to assure timely direction regarding the contract execution and to support the process of communicating information regarding the new contract or changes to existing contracts to the appropriate departments.Review Contractual Performance Of Both Parties:Reviews contractual performance of both parties to ensure compliance with terms and to identify conflicts or changes requiring resolution at contract renewal.Drafts contractual provisions based on strategy discussions, senior management input, organizational needs, and expectations.Interfaces with insurance companies regarding adequacy of coverage and purchasing needs.Engages relevant stakeholders in negotiation decisions involving legal or regulatory requirements, contract standards, and cost targets.Develops, executes negotiation strategies that minimize potential losses and benefit the healthcare organization's financial performance.Is the principal point of customer contact for all contractual matters on contracts assigned.Supervises, disseminates information between the customer and internal departments and ensures timely responses going to and from the customer during contractual negotiations and claims matters.Fosters and maintains a sound and reliable relationship with counterparts in contracts and legal functions within the organization.Maintains awareness of the legal and operational ramifications that changes to contract language may have to the contract and to assure changes do not negatively impact other aspects of the contract. Maintains a broad understanding of employment and independent contractor agreements, compensation methodologies and physician benefits and general tax information relating to moving expenses and signing bonuses.EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:Required: 2 years of experience managing contracts, including physician contracts, and using Contract Management Required Systems.Preferred: Understanding of healthcare operations and experience working high volumes of contracting work.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:

Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare Management, or related field.Preferred: Master's Degree in Business, Healthcare Management, or related field.
