About This Role:
Reporting to the President, the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs is the Chief Academic Officer of the University and provides leadership to all academic areas and reflects the mission of the institution. The Provost is an advocate for all academic programs, providing leadership to faculty and academic staff to ensure consistent quality standards in curriculum and programs that meet the needs of students. The Provost oversees the academic integrity of the university and provides leadership in long-range planning, budgeting; curriculum; and program development. The Provost ensures compliance with various accreditation agencies as well as state accreditation and regulation. The provost serves on the University senior leadership team.
What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities:
+ Fosters intellectual growth, student learning, and scholarly and creative activities by providing academic strategic planning, administrative leadership, direction, and evaluation for all academic activities and faculty affairs at the University, providing leadership in internationalizing the campus and advancing multidisciplinary scholarship.
+ Demonstrates sound fiscal management and empirical-based decision-making by overseeing program development, budgets, and facilities of all academic and academic support units.
+ Ensures an active and expanding dialogue with external constituencies by encouraging partnerships with external constituents and public organizations and facilitating the Public Affairs mission of the University.
+ Implements the strategic academic vision by authorizing faculty appointments, recommending all promotions and tenure decisions to the President, making final decisions about the allocation of academic space. Works closely with the office of Sponsored Research in implementing and evaluating major research initiatives of the University. Works with the Vice President for Student Affairs in addressing the educational support needs and extra-curricular priorities for students, and with the other Vice Presidents and senior leadership of the University in coordinating and overseeing the overall mission of the University.
+ Provides leadership in matters of academic policy and administration and regularly advise the President on these matters.
+ Coordinates with the College Deans and Vice President for Enrollment Management in the preparation of the class schedule each semester; approve the final class schedule. Collaborates with the executive team, College Deans, Associate/Assistant VPAAs, the compilation of information for the published catalog; coordinates the publishing of the catalog

+ Strong oral and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills are required.
+ An understanding of emerging technologies and the effective application of instructional technologies to enhance student learning is required.
+ An understanding of contemporary issues in higher education is required.
+ Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development of faculty and academic administrators is required.
Physical Requirements:
+ Able to lift 25 lbs and be able to perform a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings.
Job Conditions:
+ The position may require occasional evenings and/or weekends to meet university and departmental needs.
+ Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment.

Minimum Qualifications
+ An earned Doctorate degree is required.
+ Academic credentials consistent with the rank of professor, as demonstrated by a distinguished record of teaching, scholarly publications, and/or creative accomplishments that exhibit a commitment to academic experience are required.
+ A history of progressively responsible, successful experience as an academic administrator at the Dean level or above involving both graduate and undergraduate programs, including responsibility for budget, personal recruitment, and evaluation is required.
+ Experience in strategic planning, assessment of program effectiveness, and development of policy to enhance academic units within the University and with national accrediting bodies is required.
+ Understanding of the purpose and processes for fundraising and donor and volunteer relations is required.
+ Experience in developing and/or securing extramural grant and contract funding is required.
