ResponsibilitiesProgram Overview
Youth Villages’ Residential Treatment programs serve children with emotional and behavioral problems. Our residential campuses provide the setting for an intensive treatment program that combines the unique balance of structure and freedom. This enables children and their families to identify, understand and cope with their individual needs and develop the skills necessary to succeed in less restrictive settings. We have three different types of facilities—Intensive Residential Centers, Open Campuses, and Group Homes. Located in Tennessee and Georgia, all of these facilities utilize the Re-Education of Emotionally Disturbed Children therapy model (Re-Ed).
Position Overview
Provide guidance and approvals of treatment activities by attending treatment team.Monitor the use of medication and document treatment results.Track patient progress and document their results.Conduct individual, group, or family counseling sessions, and provide medication management under the supervision of psychiatrists.Educate patients and families about mental illness treatment.Diagnose patient conditions and their causes.Interview patients about symptoms and complaints and provide appropriate diagnosis.Screen patients for physical illness and analyze explanations for psychiatric illness, such as developmental issues,family dysfunction, genetics, neurological trauma, or social or cultural problems. Assess risk factors for mental illness and broader wellness evaluations. Qualifications
Education Requirements
Advanced Nurse Practitioner Degree with certification in psychiatry.
Certification and Licensure Requirements
Licensed by state as a Registered Professional Nurse
American Nurses Credentialing Center Certification
Experience Requirements
Ongoing supervision by M.D.
