Psychiatric Urgent Care/Admissions Manager (Elkridge, Full Time)

General Summary:

Provides day-to-day administrative management of Sheppard Pratt’s Psychiatric Urgent Care and Admissions at assigned campus. Serves as the point person and main resource for the smooth operation of the assigned areas. Selects, trains, and supervises staff, develops and implements work processes, resolves problems, and collects and reports data. Responsible for the registration and insurance authorization functions in assigned areas.  Works collaboratively with Access staff for patient placement and with Community Services, the Call Center and Partial Hospital Programs for other levels of care.  Responsible for the collection and reporting of data re: patient visits and disposition. Educates team on other community referrals.  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Work requires professional knowledge of psychiatric illnesses and treatment modalities, as well as customer relations and direct marketing principles - acquired through a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field of study. Work requires at least 3 years of related experience in crisis/emergency/urgent care behavioral health with skills in program leadership; effective patient service access flow; mental health needs assessment; health insurance and plan coverage verifications. Work requires substantial interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with the patients, families, staff, and referral sources, sometimes under stressful circumstances, and provide daily direction, training and supervision to assigned staff. Work requires analytic skills sufficient to assess the psychiatric presentation of patients, determine the need for admission or placement/referral, apply knowledge of internal and community resources, and handle administrative detail. Work requires the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when assessing psychiatric presentation of patients, gathering and analyzing data, coordinating clinic schedule and staffing, managing priorities,  entering patient data in computer, and resolving departmental problems.
