Responsibilities Summary This position assists with the oversight of Behavioral Health services provided in facilities throughout the Company. This involves assisting in the review and development of policies which are consistent with client requirements and National Commission of Correctional Healthcare (NCCHC) and American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, providing training to staff within facilities and to reviewing the services which are provided to ensure compliance with all policies and standards. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Provides operational advice through regular contact with medical areas at the corporate and facility levels to include pharmacy services, psychology, psychiatry, and medical. Participates in developing and managing the medical operations strategic plan and annual operating plan. Promotes facility operational policies consistent with the organization’s mission and values. Partners with Corporate Contract Compliance to develop operational monitoring tools for medical and clinical operations. Serves as a consultant to the multidisciplinary teams within facilities. Provides any necessary mental health training to the teams regarding assessment, treatment, and suicide prevention. Serves as a representative of the Company to mental health experts employed by other organizations with whom the Company has entered into a contractual agreement. Assists with overseeing the development and modification of behavioral health programs for all facilities. Assists with developing and monitoring the suicide prevention programs within all facilities. Assists with providing guidance in development and execution of facility plan of correction as it relates to psychology and programming compliance. Identifies exposures, recommends plans of action to minimize or eliminate exposures and assures implementation of the plan with appropriate senior and facility management staff. Oversees standards and controls through reviews, site visits, and formal internal, external, and client audits. Provides information to senior management on the necessary processes and systems to improve total performance. Partners with security, nursing, and administrative leadership to ensure procedures are consistent with the developmental needs of each inmate or detainee. Provides guidance and participates in new facility start-ups. Performs on-going reviews to ensure appropriate patient care measures and procedures are updated and maintained on a current basis. Facilitates appropriate training and development for facility leadership and ongoing medical education programs for licensed mental health treatment providers. Provides tele-mental services when requested. Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate articles, journals, and related material, and by attending seminars, conferences and so forth. Assists in developing and implementing all policies in accordance with ACA, NCCHC, state, federal and local requirements. Complete clinical performance reviews as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Requirements PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology from an accredited university and current license as a Psychologist is required. Five (5) years of progressive administrative experience in mental health care and/or correctional administration. Ability to obtain licensing in the states which are provided services. Must possess highly developed leadership and interpersonal skills. Must possess knowledge of state and federal health regulatory laws, objectives and policies, procedures and requirements for managing correctional facilities as demonstrated by having a combination of relevant work, education and research experience. Ability to provide Tele-Mental Health services or on site clinical services if required. Must possess working knowledge of correctional mental health standards, including regulatory agency requirements (i.e., NCCHC and ACA). Must be able to work independently and within groups. Must be able to work with all levels within the organization. Excellent verbal and written communication. Must be able to make formal presentations including in front of groups or in written documents. Ability to travel with frequent overnight stays.
