division of the Medical and Surgical Weight Loss Program at Hartford Healthcare The Medical Weight Loss program takes a holistic approach to weight loss considering the nutritional physical and emotional well being of every patient The program also works with patients to address the chronic comorbidities of obesity including type diabetes sleep problems and cardiovascular diseaseJob SummaryThe psychologist role In Medical Weight Loss is a highly collaborative one The psychologist is a member of the core treatment team and will work closely with board certified Obesity Medicine specialists bariatric surgeons nurses and nutritionists to support the mental health needs of this patient population The psychologist should be well versed in evidenced based approaches to support weight loss and other health promoting behaviors as well as those that address co occurring mood symptoms Opportunities for research and training psychiatry residents and fellows psychology trainees also existJob ResponsibilitiesProviding behavioral health services to adults including diagnostic assessment and evaluation of treatment needs of medical patients on site collaboration and consultation with medical providers brief and evidence based individual and group interventions for behavioral and mental health issuesIndependent maintenance of treatment records and timely documentationEffective utilization of screening measures and assessment toolsData management including tracking symptoms and treatment outcomesParticipating in program development and quality improvement researchDeveloping and implementing psychoeducational materials for use in the medical settingParticipating in team meetings case management and coordination outreach and communication
