Public Affairs Specialist
Job Summary Under the direction of the VP, Public Affairs, the Public Affairs Specialist implements market and issue-specific strategy to include supporting efforts to build relationships in growth regions. + Execute public affairs and advocacy strategy that supports advancement of Novant Health’s efforts to create a healthy future and bring remarkable experiences to life through communications engagement with targeted public policy audiences. + Support and implement message development and deployment to targeted audiences. + Identify and support opportunities to position Novant Health leaders and thought leaders on public policy solutions. + Implement issue campaign tactics, including grassroots engagement, earned media development, and events. + Lead cross-department teams to package for media and other strategic purposes Novant Health best practices in advocating for patients and providers. + Support Novant Health Center for Policy Solutions, Government Relations and Public Affairs departments to draft publications and other educational materials for internal and external audiences. + Deliver presentations on policy and legislative issues to internal and external audiences. + Other projects as assigned by the Vice President, Public Affairs. Qualifications + Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Related Degree. + Experience: Three or more years of political or issue campaign, media advocacy, or government relations communications preferred, required. + Additional skills required: + Exemplary interpersonal skills that translate into positive relationships with external contacts, internal colleagues and leaders. + Commitment to working in a team environment with an emphasis on collaboration. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to write clearly and accurately in non-technical terms about complex policy. + Ability to demonstrate initiative, ownership and accountability of projects. + Ability to function effectively in an environment with multiple and fluctuating priorities; successfully manage multiple priority projects simultaneously without significant direct supervision. + Skilled at Microsoft Office suite to include PowerPoint, Word, Teams and Excel.
