What You Will Do:

Guidehouse is seeking a Public Diplomacy Support Senior Consultant to support a public diplomacy office at the Department of State. The client is transitioning to a new operating model to provide a breadth of services to the field after completing a multi-year effort to modernize and restructure the Department’s public affairs sections at overseas embassies and consulates.

As a Guidehouse team member supporting this effort, you will join a team passionate about serving clients around the globe. Day to day, you will provide coaching and advice for public affairs sections on an array of topics such as team dynamics, leadership skills, and strategic planning. You will play a role in guiding embassies and consulates staff in the following: troubleshooting organizational problems, introducing them to available resources, engaging with subject matter specialists, and facilitating their requests for support through a new process.

Successful candidates will have public diplomacy experience; a background in coaching, leadership development or organizational sustainability; work well in a collaborative environment; think creatively; and be able to adjust to shifting priorities.


What You Will Need:

Ability to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a SECRET Federal or DoD security clearance 

Bachelor’s degree

FOUR (4) years of professional experience including TWO (2) years of experience in leadership and management coaching, and/or experience in executing, implementing, and sustaining organizational restructuring and TWO (2) years of experience working in an international setting supporting public diplomacy professionals

Ability to travel internationally to any located requested


What Would Be Nice To Have:

An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED SECRET Federal or DoD security clearance

Prior foreign officer or public diplomacy experience at the Department of State

Prior consulting experience 

Understanding of the bureaucracy, hierarchy, and operations at the Department of State and other international agencies

Ability to bridge cultural and language barriers while working with clients where English may be a second language

Proficiency in the use of cloud-based and traditional word processing software, spreadsheets, presentations (e.g., G Suite, Microsoft, et al), databases and project management tools (e.g., Salesforce, Asana, et al)

Ability to learn and adopt concepts and strategies related to strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, audience analysis, best practices and techniques

Ability to provide assistance such as technical guidance and/or training to coworkers

Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous customer service

Ability to clearly and succinctly define problems and design solutions 

Ability to participate in and lead client-facing discussions and meetings 

Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills 

The annual salary range for this position is $94,900.00-$142,300.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
