Job Description:
The U-Haul External Communications team will offer a paid in-person internship for the 2025 spring semester to a qualified Public Relations, Journalism or other Communications student.
The selected candidate will work with members of the U-Haul PR and Community Relations staff to write and circulate press releases on behalf of new U-Haul neighborhood dealers. In addition to this primary task, our interns assist with media outreach; write blogs for myuhaulstory.com; and tackle additional assignments as they arise. Included in the internship are on- and off-site volunteer opportunities with U-Haul charity partners; collaboration with other departments; building teamwork skills; and gaining operational knowledge of an industry leader that has been serving a public need since 1945.
Strong communication and writing skills, diligent fact-checking, and Microsoft and basic computer proficiency are needed. Familiarity with AP stylebook is helpful. Applicants should possess the ability to complete tasks independently and efficiently; display excellent time management; and go the extra mile to ensure accuracy in their work.
Applicants must be a rising or current college junior or senior, or pursuing a Master’s degree, and maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher. U-Haul PR interns typically work 20-30 hours per week with flexible schedules based on their classes. Start and finish dates to be determined by the U-Haul manager based on the school’s requirements and student’s schedule. Interns may earn the option to stay in their role beyond one semester if all parties agree.
